'Lo all,

I made a big order at BBTS yesterday and noticed just how much the weakened dollar changes the price of Joes when ordering cross border.

Will this curb anyone who frequently buys from the US?

I'm not sure that it will effect my collecting habits, but it certainly requires a little more though when ordering.

If the dollar keeps dropping, then yes.

Right now it is still pretty good, especially when you take into account the price differences for some stuff.  However, if it drops much more, then it won't be worth the trip.

I am only going down now for things that you can't get up here.  Otherwise I will buy up here.

I cancelled most of the stuff I had ordered at BBTS. Between the dollar drop and the hassle of going to pick up stuff south of the border I've moved as much as possible to shopping up here.

How if only toysRus.ca actually had anything worth buying in stock

Absolutely.  A lot of what's out can be found in Canada, with a little bit of hunting...  I'll be limiting my USD spending to only things I know I can't get here, like US exclusives.

Don't forget guys, we have a couple of CANADIAN sponsors on the main page of this site that can help you get the stuff you need as well! :-)

It has certainly affected my eBaying.  I shall therefore be purchasing from some of the aforementioned Canadian sites more often.

My Joe purchases have slowed down in general though.  I tend to get frustrated when too much comes out at once and regress to only the single packs and comic packs.

I would love to buy locally, but I buy large volumes and the only place I have found that can handle my orders is BBTS. To put it in perspective, my latest order at BBTS was $1700 US or there abouts and that was predominately army builders.

I haven't had the chance to check out the sponsors because I'm a n00b but I will! I'd rather buy locally then from the US.

I've placed an order with both Goldenage and Eternity. My order with eternity is still in "pre-order" status as the products are not out yet so I cannot speak about them except to say that they are very responsive when you email them. Goldenage toys has been great, also very responsive and fast shipping.
