GI Joe: Cobra ...  - I hope they keep it up for a long, long time.

Awe, no!  I just read #s 3 and 4...  the only thing that disappointed me was that it ended :(   I hope they pick up the same pace and atmosphere in Cobra Special.

Chuckles Rocks! I loved that book, (like everybody else). Not minding the Reboot either, even though up tiill last issue it was dragging along. Now I want to know what happened to SE unit that made him go rogue?

I picked up Origins and the Movie Prequel books from the iTunes store. I enjoyed the Origins story more than the prequel. I guess since I'm new to the 3 3/4 Joe world it helped me get into the history. IDW will be publishing upcoming Origins titles for download soon. I'm looking forward to reading more.

I want to thank all those who've posted before me. With your help I'm off to pick up the Cobra series.

Cheers,
Ian

Ian, if you REALLY want to understand where GI Joe came from, pick up Classic GI Joe Vols 1-4.  They're trade paperbacks of the original Larry Hama-authored Marvel series.  I have all four and have greatly enjoyed reading them...after reading the comics, you'll wonder why the cartoon was so goofy at times (Fuzzy Wuzzies, anyone?).

Thanks for this. I've finished the first two books in the Cobra series and I have to say that I'm enjoying it...a lot. Sometimes I find comics hard to read because the blatant exposition, but there's not a lot of that going on in the GI Joe books I've read so far. I'll look for the classics. Hopefully they'll be available as downloads.

Thanks again for the recommendations.

Anyone reading GIJoe:Cobra II?  The first issue was OK - [s:319i4g6w]nothing really grabbed me[/s:319i4g6w].  The big surprise wasn't really a surprise at all.  Hopefully it picks up some steam.  I take some of that back.  I re-read the issue and they made Croc Master very creepy.  Likely my highlight if the book.

And I wish Larry Hama wrote every issue of Origins.

They're great stories.  Try to support by picking them up, not just downloading them!

I stopped reading the new comics(IDW) because I find their stories drag on and each issue doesn't go anywhere on it's own--it takes too long for things to transpire.  I guess I still compare them to the old Marvel comics.

I also stopped with the comic a while ago.  Not just because of the story, but because I don't have room to store comic books.  I would welcome electronic versions instead.
