Does anyone know the deal with RoC Kamakura?
« on: March 30, 2010, 03:35:17 AM »

Was this guy short-packed or something?  He seemed like a rather unremarkable figure to me, so I passed on some early chances to buy him online figuring I'd be able to get him at retail after Christmas when the shelves were finally restocked.  Well, that restock isn't happening, and like most of his wave, he seems pretty hard to come by.  Checking ebay reveals him going on there for over $50!  What's the deal here?

Oh yeah, and if anyone has one either loose or carded they'd be willing to part with for a FAIR price (like 2 to 3 times retail, not 10+) feel free to let me know  ;D

This is what I found so far for you:

Wow, I can't believe you are right about this figure.  All the site I go to have it sold out but they wanted between $20 to $30 for him.

I've only picked up a couple RoC figures at the $5 price since I'm not really collecting the line at all, but it's fun to look. I could swear I saw him at TRU and passed since I had no interest in this figure... heh, who knew?!

He wasn't short packed. He was 2 to a case, like other figures of the same assortment. That wave proved popular and sold fast (Night adder, etc) so wasn't at retail long. People really liked the Kamakura figure:

As he is a great figure with great accessories, and is especially good for ROC based ninja customs.

This wave was only really seen in numbers at Zellers here (Canadian target) and even then didn't stick around TOO long.

I've sold a few on ebay that I picked up at Zellers, as well as hooking up a few US friends (for cost) at the same time. I've gone through probably 6 or 7 of them, but haven't found any in some time.

I have found two locally; one at Zellers and one at TRU.  I only bought the one.

I haven't even SEEN him, if I had I would have picked him up.  I've seen Charbroil, Nano-Viper, Red Fang Ninja (no surprise there), LOTS of Night Adder now, and even City Strike SE several times, but never a Kamakura.

So yeah guys, if any of you find another one and feel like helping your buddy OlYeller out, I'd appreciate it  ;D

I'm in the same boat with Charbroil. Never saw him and I really wanted him. Hopefully I'll find one at this summers Canadian G.I. Joe Convention.

It's too bad the Zellers sale is over. I know for a fact the Zellers near my work still has that figure. LMK if you want me to grab it for you (at full $9.99 retail)

I saw 1 or 2 Kamakura's, both at Zellers. The wave didn't seem to get a wide release.

I have never seen a kamakura, not in Alabama, Georgia, or Florida.
