Excellent review, and I like the Skystriker.  But as a kid, I remember thinking the thing was dull.  It didn't have a lot of playability relative to it size and was just too big to really do much with.  Would have been tough to zoom around the room with it in one hand and a rattler in the other.  Great photos and the stickers look fabulous.

erm... nit-pick...

1. the larger missiles are AIM-65 Phoenix long-range air-to-air missiles. Only the Tomcat carries them. (65+ miles range!)

2. i dunno if it's a variant to the NA release, but my Action Force Skystriker's fuel tank is easily removable...

Erm, nit pick...don't you mean the AIM-54 Phoenix?   ;D  And I looked up both when I was writing my review, but I thought the missiles on the SkyStriker more closely resembled the AGM-65 than the AIM-54.  The Maverick has a softer, more rounded nose on it, while the Phoenix has a sharp, pointy one.  Besides, for argument's sake, there's no reason the Joes couldn't have switched the SkyStriker to the Maverick to give it an air-to-ground capability.

And it may be that my Striker's tank is freaking glued on or something, but I can't remove it...at least without breaking it.

My Hasbro one the fuel tank is not removable - the India one, barely stays on.

 I was just messin with ya, Sundance.  And honestly, the reason I said that the SkyStriker carried the Maverick is because of an old chart my friend has showing specs on all US missiles and their pictures.  I didn't know the F-14 carried the Phoenix till you told me.

well, the later D-model Tomcat (i think it was the D model) was rated as a strike version and as any fan of the comics knows, the Skystriker carried bombs to attack Cobra's undersea bunker, triggering the geological shift that caused Cobra Island to rise, so it carrying Mavs is entirely plausible.

(one UK strip had the Skystriker carrying the JP-233 'runway denial' weapon to bomb a Cobra base...)
