Kinda doubt Colorado will come back to QC, but maybe the Coyotes....

It seemed that Coyotes were going to end back in Winnipeg, with Atlanta or even Florida ending up in Quebec City.  But the commish did what he could to keep the team in Phoenix.  Playing a winter sport in a desert doesn't work there Gary.

The Winnipeg group really played this out well (compared to Basilli), very quietly and had what they needed to get it done, the biggest was the arena and a rich Owner.  Glad it worked out.

its not all done yet in winnipeg. Still gotta sell the season tickets before the NHL june meeting.  Pretty much everyone at my work took a 20 minute break during the announcement. Heck one guy left work early to be there live for the announcement.

Have they confirmed the team will be called the Jets yet? I know that is what all the fans want but I heard that might not happen a couple of days ago.

I heard these names tossed around
"Winnipeg Nordiques"
"Winnipeg high crime rate"
"Winnipeg Suck it Bettman"

But all kidding aside, I'd like to see them use the Jets, just too much history just to let go.  I wonder if they will bring in some of the old Jets allumni on opening night, that would be special.

no word on the winnipeg team name, however they did meet the 1st condition which was to sell at 13,000 season tickets. They finally opened season tickets to the general public today at noon. I just did a check and they have already hit that mark. I think the MTS Centre only holds about 15,000+ at full capacity, so I'm sure the scalpers will make some good coin.

The only reason he is not an NHL owner is that he wanted to move the pittsburgh penguins to Canada.  If he kept his mouth shut...
