Hello all,

I know this is not the "For sale" forum, but because of the size, I think you in Ontario would be interested...

Good luck!

Like the title says... and I have a car. But a 7 hours driving is too much. So if you can drive few hours (and have your car license  :P) and you are willing to split gas, PM me.

I'm in Montreal area.

Yearly CanJoeCon Discussion / Time to tease us...
« on: January 20, 2009, 09:31:33 PM »
Mike,

It's time to tease us... the con is 3 months from now. May 2 is like tomorrow

Can you tell us the theme for this year fig? Artic, Air, Water, Jungle, etc.

Is it 1 or 2 (or more) exclusive?

Is it a fig made by Hasbro or it will be hand painted?

Maybe 1 answer every 2 weeks would be fun ;D

Thanks!

General Joe Talk / A Canadian exclusive set?
« on: December 19, 2008, 05:12:14 PM »
I was reading the Q&A that all GI Joe boards are posting. While all the questions were pertinent and interesting, I can?t stay the same thing for the answers? There is a trend in those answers that can be resumed in ?we will see, no plan yet?.

I was thinking, instead of asking questions to Hasbro and getting those kind of answers, what would happen if we propose something to Hasbro? We can give them ideas? like a Canadian exclusive pack or a vehicle. If we, on the board, can agree on something, why Hasbro won?t be interested in producing it? Let?s think about it? some movies did their marketing only with Internet (like the Blair witch project?) and it works.

Can we brainstorm ideas, make a survey and promote that idea to Hasbro? If the big Canadian stores (Sears, TRU, Zellers, Wallmart, etc.) don?t want it, we have our sponsors (goldenagetoys.com and eternitycomicsandcollectibles.com) with the distributing knowledge?

We also have the JoeCanuck?s store. If that thing we select is selling well, the store can make profit to invest in the next Canadian con and help Mike to pay hosting for the board.

Is it a good or bad idea?

General Joe Talk / Vintage vehicles value vs. 25th ann. vehicles
« on: December 17, 2008, 09:57:08 PM »
Hey guys,

I didn't read a topic on this before, but I want to hear your comment about that. The 25th ann. figs are different from the vintage. You may like them or not (I'm still on the vintage figs) but they have a different size and mold. BUT, the 25th ann. vehicles are pretty much the same as the vintage one, with the characteristics of been:
  • improved,
  • not expensive,
  • complete,
  • in box,
  • with filecard,
  • brand new (no wear, no stress mark, etc.),
  • not broken,
  • not rusty,
  • not dusty from storage.

Why would you pay $20 for a vintage RAM, $40 for a vintage VAMP, $80 for a vintage Rattler when you can get them half price for a very very very similar version?

I sold pretty much all my vehicles 5 years ago... I still have a Skyhawk, APC, ASP, Flak and some SNAKEs. Now, with the new 25th ann. line, I bought a lot of vehicles for more than half price I sold my vintage.

Do you think the price of vintage vehicles will (or already) collapse? Are you scared to see the next new vehicules Hasbro will introduce on the market? I know, collecting toys in more than an acquisition cost. But when you paid 1 year ago a Stinger Jeep $60, and you now know you will be able to get a brand new one very soon for what... $19.99? it is sometime frustrating...

What do you think?

General Joe Talk / What do you use to replace... ?
« on: November 16, 2008, 06:01:22 PM »
This is not a secret at all... some vintage Joe parts and accessories are really hard to find. I'm thinking about:
  • 1983 APC seat belts
  • 1985 EELS mouthpiece
  • 1985 Moray Hydrofoil spolight lens
  • 1985 Snow Serpent missile stand
  • 1985 Dusty bipod
  • 1985 Heavy-Metal mic
  • 1987 Falcon antenna
  • etc.

Even on eBay, those parts and accessories don't show up very often... So, what do you do to remplace them? Have you find a good remplacement part that works pretty good like the original?

For example, I replaced the accessories below by:
  • 1985 EELS air nose --> I used a 1986 Wet-Suit black mouthpiece (but I still prefer the original EELS part...)
  • 1985 Dusty bipod --> I used Marauder John FAMAS Assault Rifle (my best $1 investment!)
  • 1985 Heavy-Metal mic --> one of my friend used Marauder John Helmet mic
  • 1987 Falcon antenna --> I used a black paper clip cut in half (it looks really great!)

But I'm still looking for replacement tips for others. Any ideas?

Thanks to all,

Martin

Have you see this: http://tower-of-power.com/tower_collection.html

Do you think this is the good scale for GI Joe? Because it can become a great Extensive Enterprises' building too...

See this first:

I know marketing increase sales, but why doing it when products are always out of stock?

By the way, 3 funny things about this commercial:
  • How Clutch is holding the steering wheel  8)
  • Nobody drives the HISS  ???
  • Steeler's helmet doesn't fit quite well  :-[
