Bryce had asked me if I recieved my wave 3 figures yet and what I thought of them, so in stead of responding directly with him I thought I'd make this a topic.
I placed an order with the MC group a couple of weeks ago with the MC group after Bryce mentioned they have wave 3 in stock. I also bought a set of wave 2, cost me $72.00 (USD) total I think after shipping, maybe $74.00. Anyhow, they all showed up last Sunday at my door step and as requested they were shipped "as a gift" Thank you MC. You also have to love the holiday shipping, when you can get packages after normal hours and on weekends. :D
The figure are better than I thought. The negaive is always more fun than the possitive, so I'll start there.
Saw Viper, total repaint of roll bar and my guys right arm won't bend at the elbow. I tried hot water and everything and the joint is starting to break. Probably just a fluke so I don't expect them all to be like this. On the plus, the saw viper helmet looks good on a few of the faces so if you had more than one Grand Slam figure, that head with all the "stuble" on it looks good under the mask. The figure itself really isn't that bad looking.
Monkey Wrench, I thought I would have a big problem with this guy as I LOVE dreadnoks but never cared that much for Burn Out and this was made using his body. I thought if I at least replaced the arms he would look better, WRONG! I've never been able to get his body sealed back together the same for some reason. There is always a gap across the top of him and I've tried different screws and put the original arms back but nothing works. The arms I tried BTW were the Gung Ho arms from the Gung Ho / Viper pack (wrong flesh tone and loose). On the plus, he really dosent look like Burn out with his cost on and the shot guns in his pockets really look good.
Cobra trooper, meh. He's alright I guess but once you pop that helmet off his head it doesn't want to go back on the same again and the weapons are odd. In fact a lot of this wave has odd weapons. They have pegs or holes on the sides like they should mount on a wall display or something. I have my Cobra's bazooka and "laser gun" attached to each other just because those pegs are there and I like to try to have the figure hold everything he comes with. The figure isn't bad I guess, but I've spent the least amount of time looking at him.
Grand Slam, the only bad thing about him is the yellow grenades and the fact his helmet is hard to get the chin strap closed. I don't think it's meant to be straped on. Besides that I love this figure. Him and Mokey Wrench are the top 2 from this wave.
Med Alert, besides the fact he comes with a few guns I can't say much bad about him. Maybe the location of the mic on his helmet is high, like over his right eye, and there is nothing you can do about it. Figure itself comes together well, he's just not that interesting.
Low Light, the negative is he comes with a small pistol that won't stay in his left hand and the picture on the card shows him holding a knife instead. They used the wave 7 Snake Eyes arms on this one and I have always had a problem with the way that left hand was made. That and the vest he is wearing has a hole in the back because it's from Gung Ho with the lever in the back for "gun pulling action". Besides that this figure really came out well. The colours are good and the mold is good. If the figure had a better lef hand and maybe a removable knife from his left boot then this would be near perfect.
I also said I got my first set of wave 2 figures. I'm not going to review them except to say WOW to Major Bludd, he came out far better than I was hoping. I love this figure. On the other end of the stick Salvo plain old sucks. Figure is boring and he's got an ugly mug. I knew a guy who looked like this meat head when I use to work out at Popeyes gym (once upon a time I spent 2 1/2 hours a day at the gym but that was 8 years ago so the only thing I have left from the time is in my back and some in my chest, maybe I should make a new years resolution about that...) Anyhow, back on topic, Salvo has a usless big gun, stupid helmet and a face that only the mother of the missing link could love.
And Bryce, as for the car, the transmission is fixed but the over drive gear only seems to engage half the time. I think there is a problem with in the electronics side of things. Still working on it but at least I didn't have to replace the whole transmission. Not out of the woods yet, but hopefully not as bad as it could have been.
For those who don't know, the city of Hamilton hates me. 1 1/2 weeks ago I was on the skyway bridge when my transmission started to slip. Didn't even get to pop in to say hi to Mike like I usually do when I do a job there. I think I'm curesd when I go there.

Thanks for the update Morg. I think I'm still going to wait for BHT to get wave 3 before I decide whether I want the figs or not. Most likely. So far from what I've seen and heard-the figs are cheaply made, quality is down even from V vs V standards. But the vehicles have been cool.
And don't worry Morg, 2006 will shine upon you with good luck. Hopefully!
-
Hey Morg, I fogot to mention the wave 2 Major Bludd figure still is not as cool as the one you made.
-
I still have not ordered wave 3 either. This wave can wait for another month or two to get. Only Monkeywrench looks good to me.
-
You know what blows about all this (for me) I have pre ordered wave two from a on-line seller and still do not have them...now wave three is out and some guys are getting them..................uuuug!
I better re-think how I am doing my collecting and who to order from. Does anyone else get suspicious about people they preorder from???? This place always has something going on that is not on the level?.
To stay on topic...great review...thanks!! I hope to get mine soon! I hope Hasbro in Canada will sell them soon!
-
Well I don't know who you've placed your order with but I'm still waiting for about $200.00 U.S.D. (one of everything set, extra set of comic packs, and 2 more of each trooper, I'd have to look thru my emails to see what else I'm waiting for) worth of wave 2 stuff from GIJoe HQ. I feel pretty sure it's not Curts fault on the delay and I'm sure he get emails daily on where people orders are but I have to admit I'm starting to get concerned. I replied to one of his new site updates on new stock a few days ago and haven't gotten a response yet.
I might drop him another email in the next few days and I hope to hear back from him. I want to remain hopeful everything will work out in the end.
-
Wow. Is it just me or do people seem to get regularly screwed on preorders (no matter who they order from?)

Yup, I am one of those in the past. Will never pre-order anything again.
-
Me too. I pre ordered $108 bucks US worth of wave 1 stuff back in June and nothing to show for it. Email the guy four times to find out what's going on and no response. He also shut down his old sever and erased my account. In the case of HQ I have heard rumors not only from Morgardee but other sources that Hasbro is intentionally delaying his shippments because he was selling the DTC before it was even released.

Nobody take my theroy as fact on way the HQ is delayed. That is just a guess as I have no fact in that other than speculation.
-
I heard other reasons as to why his shipments are delayed, but it's not for me to say here.
-
I too have been waiting and waiting for my comic packs from HQ. It seems like an eternity though. I know it's not Curt's fault, but I really don't know the whole story or have all the facts of why he still hasn't received his wave 2 shipment. I think he stated that this is the last of the DTC stuff he's getting from Hasbro after all this jerking around. However, I try to support Curt when I can. He's always treated me great and fixes any problems even when it's Hasbro's fault and not his own.

I have to admit that I was one of those that e-mailed Curt on a monthly basis to check up on the status of my ROCC pre-order. At least he gave me an estimated time of when his orders will arrive, around January and February. I'll be concerned if my order is not processed by March.

Well that is good to know. I'd rather have a suggested date given then no idea at all. It's not the end of the world if I have to wait, I just want to know that he is indeed getting the orders in. But I have to agree with you comment about March. If by then I haven't recieved my orders then I would be asking for a full refund. At that point I think I'd call it quits on collecting toys. Maybe I'd finish off the original ARAH run but even that would be questionable. I've given up on the new Sigma Six cartoon and stopped watching it. It's just like the new Transformer cartoons. They are nothing like the shows I grew up loving.
Still, I do want to see what the ROCC looks like as well as that new Hiss tank. I can't be sure what I'll do. I'd rather have the stuff I ordered than a refund, that's for sure. I love the Dreadnoks and that is part of what I'm waiting for.
-
wave 2 will arrive and you will all get your orders
spillspleen your post here is a slam at me and totally uncalled for.
i will refund your money asap
lmk if you want a check or paypal. im done with that kind of bs
the delay has nothing to do with when i had preorders up.
i have never screwed anyone on a preorder and i take offense to sugesstions that i have.
any issues in the past were taken care of by me at my expense. and to be honest i lose about 5.00 per order for canadaian customers so forgive me for being a bit hardnosed on this
wave 1 was delayed almost 4 months from the time they were first sold by hasbro. wave 2 looks like it will be the same and it has only been 2 months.
you have issues with my delivery time call hasbro.
they are the idiots handling the shipments. not me.
they dont even have wave 3 on their own site yet.

Sorry Curt, but I'm not going to do that. It's not anything negative perse, but I'm not the kind of guy that would post 3rd or 4th party info as truth, when I have no idea as to the validity of the claim(s) - just that I'd heard them.
-
then please pm me so i can give you the facts
-
Glad to hear from you Curt. As I said, I don't mind waiting but I was wondering what was going on. Assuming that Loops time reference is correct waiting a bit longer isn't a big deal for me.
-
When I meant I was screwed on pre-orders, this wasn't a shot at you Curt. I didn't make it clear but it was Hasbro I was making reference to. They have cancelled orders on Curt, which in turn screwed up the pre-orders I made. Curt does make the effort to replace the cancelled items or give me store credit instead but you shouldn't have to play this Hasbro game.
But I can't tie up money in pre-orders any more. My travel expenses lately have been around 1,500 for work, in which I have to wait a month or two to get that money back from the office. So I can't have money tied up money in pre-orders as I may need my Joe funds to get foreign figures that come up out of no where. Pass up a HTF foreign figure like a Funskool Bat, I might as well do this (http://http://www.zerogravitysports.com/boards/style_emoticons/Emotions/icon_ead2.gif)
I can't figure out why non GI JOE sites like bigbad whatever gets product from Hasbro first and Curt has to wait months later to get it. I won't play this game as I stick to Curt for USA online business.

Guess it's time for me to jump in?
Curt, I think Stealth was referring to me, and the 'hold up' for my stock getting here - I don't think it was directed specifically at you.
Spill didn't come out and say he pre-ordered from you on this site (No clue about other ones).
I would of had no idea he pre-ordered from you had you not replied. :-)
I don't think anyone is blaming 'you' for their items being delayed.
Since you're the one that took the pre-orders, the crap falls on you sure, but you and I both know who the crap should be falling on - the folks that supply it - and Hasbro.
Take it easy on Curt guys - I've had a few (more than a few) waves show up late - IF at all.
It's ALWAYS out of my hands....... Trust me, there's a reason I don't have any DTC items yet - or TNA items for that matter.
In my honest opinion, the best companies to deal with are the 'new' ones - or smaller one. Jakks Pacific has only screwed me once....... compared to the rest, that's a friggin blessing!

And remember everyone, patience is a @%#@ing virtue. Today's hot item is tomorrow's pegwarmer. The "gotta have it now" mentality is kinda silly.
Pre-orders in general are a risky endeavour and if you're willing to pay for something that the seller doesn't have yet, you're taking a risk. Be prepared for the consequences.

Partially, you are correct Mike.
At any rate,I'd rather it just be dropped.

Hello BHT please help me out here wih this post?I do not want a flame and will not go any further than the post below?but please let me vent!!!!
Damed Viper...does it not suck to have to bite your lip?
Madman and Agent Loop are in the same loop I am...how many others are out there?
Curt you have my e-mail use it for once and I say that like everything else I do with no ill intentions!!! :shifty: I did say take your time becuse I am in no rush but I never once thought that this much time would pass. He never once e-mailed me and said anything about these figures. When I e-mail him I get e-mails like ?No? and Still Looking?. Then they turned to? ?Hey I have the figure but no accessories.? Or ?I am making a trade for this figure but the other guy is slow? Yes I would say so? 6 to 12 moths for a trade????
So now you can see from my point of view how I might feel (I Hope!!) The guy has me by the family jewels. :x If I say anything there goes my pre-order?my two figures and I already lost some accessories. :(
Without stating the obvious what do you guys think I can do? (obvious is I should have cut this guy loose the first time he messed up?or the second?or the third)!
I am in a real mess now "I guess and was all it my fault in the end?"
-
In my books Curt is a stand up guy and I have never had problems with him. Even got a chance to meet him in Min. at the Con. My mistake was to go with another online store because the fellow offered me a discount. This store claimed the same problems with Hasbro, the only difference is they got their order in (late) but I still have nothing and they have not returned any of my inquiries. Curt has always been quick to answer any questions or concerns I've ever made.
-
Sill,
my advice would be this.
STOP dealing with whatever .com store it is.
Simple.
You have MANY other options.
As for pre-orders, notice I have NO DTC items yet.
It's been over a month since I ordered (longer)
I should of had them.
Saying it's 'not my fault' doesn't matter to anyone, bottom line is, I don't have it because it IS someone elses fault.
HASBRO.
Don't fault the store for not getting the items in, fault the company for not doing their job right. If they (Hasbro) weren't so concerned about selling DIRECT to customers - EVERYONE would be happier and pre-orders wouldn't be cancelled.
I've seen you post stuff on mnay other boards Carl, and I have always wondered why.
Just email the person directly, or do what some folks do with me - post a mesage on their message board.
It sucks that you've had those problems, and if it is Curt you're speaking of, well I've had no problems with him - ever.
I've had problems with one place - Smalljoes.com - so I don't bother with them anymore.
Well... them and DeepDiscountDVD - jerks.
Take it up directly with the person. I've made errors sending things out.
Heck, I sent Pluv (from JoeCustoms) the entire WRONG figure.
He's cool with it and knows that this stuff happens - again and again.
I told him I'd send out the right one to him and apoligized.
Only ONCE has anyone that I've dealed with gone 'nuts' over two orders being messed up - but they had a 'god' complex and though I should kiss their feet for shopping here. He at least took this up with me via PMs and NASTY emails.
Do the same. ;-)
Until then,
I'm locking this. It's gone off track from the original thread anyway.
If Curt would like to reply to your post, I'll let him.
Once it's settled, I'll unlock it and allow both to post.
Then that's it.
Mike
