Just bought the 4 disc series for $28CAN. I saw the movie a while back-loved it and was toying with the idea of getting the series after I think it was Raps who bought it on Boxing day. I never watched the series when it was on TV because I was into Farscape and Stargate-SG1 and two sci-fiers was enough for me, so I never gave Firefly a chance (it's people like me why the series was cancelled). Anyway, now I can't get enough of it.
I highly recommend checking it out or the movie if your looking for something to watch.

I've seen 2 episodes so far. I have no free time. I enjoyed both of them though. ;-)

How does it compare as a series to something like "Jeremiah"? Story rich or action rich?

Story rich and character rich. Tank Girl and I borrowed Firefly from a friend and watched it intensively for two weeks. I ended up buying the series after that.
It's heartbreaking to know that this may never continue further than the movie. And even if it does, a lot of the subplots we got a taste of during the series will never be resolved.
By the way, Joss Whedon apologized for what happens at the end of Serenity. The part a great many people disliked.

The "I'll kill you all using nothing but modern interpretive dance" part?
Yeah, not a fan of that part. I accept his apology.
I've watched the first two disks today for father's day. Not much else I can do on a day off with a bad left wing.
I'm really enjoying the show. I've also found an eithcal role model in Mal. ;-)

Amazing show indeed. Probably the best on TV in some time.
I'm currently really getting into Battlestar Galactica (new series). VERY intense show, keeps you on the edge of your seat. I am loving it!

Also enjoying the new Battlestar Galactica. It took me about 2 minutes to get over Starbuck being female, but good writing wins the day. The challenge for most shows seems to keep original story lines once it gets to Season 5. The best Season 5 I have ever seen was on The Shield. Even Sopranos is getting a little muddled in story line the last couple of seasons.
