Title: Plastic crack
Post by: Colonel Abernathy on July 14, 2006, 02:39:02 PM
I usually put my collection in storage for the summer so the humidity doesn't go crazy on my Joes.  So while I was cleaning my collection today, I counted how many figures I have and I was a little shocked at the number - 210!  Now, this is probably small compared to some of the collecting lunatics here, but its shocking for me because last year I decided to streamline my collection.  I.E. not buy every single Joe thing released and just buy the "essentials"...so, basically, I consider 210 figures to be essential.

Anyone else here a Joe crackhead?

I am over 2,800 figures if you count the entire domestic line (once) international, convention and army builders.  All my guys stay cool in the basement.  The dehumdifier plays a huge role in controlling the humidity down there.

I would have to agree - my figures didn't fair well at my parents house - NO AC and no humidifier, however since they are now in a climate controlled environtment, and I have a humidifier in the next room - there has been no visiable signs of aging or yellowing!  And I think it is all because of the humidifier.

K I am up to around 225 now after a visit to BHT.  This madness has to stop!     Pete how can u possibly display almost 3000 Joes?!?  do you rotate the display (keep some in storage)?  Is your entire basement dedicated to your collection?

I've got to have at least 400. Maybe 500. But most of them are incomplete and many are in dodgy shape. I store them very poorly in plastic bins that once held romaine lettuce.

I only have 11 Joes on display right now (Black Ice, Joe Canuck, Skydiver, Cobra Mortal, Defense Mech and a few others)

I had well over 1000 loose (not counting packaged figures on the walls) in my joe room on display but that's now a nursery so I doubt I'll ever have them all out in full force again. Maybe if I ever move into a bigger house but even that is questionable. At least I had a good 5 or so years with my Joe room.

I have yet to fully display my collection for a variety of reasons.  But after this week I am planning on getting something to display some of the figures.
