Title: Money orders in Canadian currency?
Post by: Jay on July 17, 2006, 10:14:39 PM
Mike and some of you other guys might have some experience with this.
I recently sold my wrestling figures over ebay (15$ for over 30 figures... I should've put a reserve of at least 30$... ?.?) and the guy wants to pay by MO, but I have no idea how to request an MO in Canadian currency... I heard this MO stuff can get complicated when it's not in US currency...

Ask him to send an international money order in Canadian currency.

I know to send an international money order in U.S. currency from up here it only costs an additional $5. Should be about the same.

Thanks.
Maybe I'll get lucky and he won't pay. Then I can relist it with a reserve and hope I get a higher price. Seriously, that's less than 50 cents per item! :(

Is the guy fron Canada? If so, there shouldn't be a problem, he just needs to get a Canadian money order, either from his bank, or the post office.

No, he's from the USA.
I sent him the payment instructions, now I need to wait for him to mail me the MO.

If its coming from the states, make sure you tell him that you require a international money order. They are orange  in colour. A US money order which is green in colour is not cashable in canada. Thats just a heads up. I do alot of selling on ebay and have heard of others running into this problem.

Ahem to that. One of my first times selling on ebay I sold a lot of vintage Star Wars toys to a guy in the US for a fair price and I couldn't cash that money order. I sent it back to him and never heard from him again. I had to resell and the next time around the lot didn't go for as much.
