Title: Scramble on TV, talking Joes... again.
Post by: Scramble on May 05, 2007, 07:19:10 AM
That's right, the GI Joe episode of FANatical is set to air May 8th at 7:00 pm on TVtropolis. I haven't seen it yet and will only receive a DVD of the episode after it airs. So here's hoping there's no questionable editing and the episode is as fun to watch as it was to film.

If you want to burn me a copy and mail it over, I'll 'split' it up and get it on the JoeCanuck YouTube section if you want.

Should fit in 3 parts I would think.

Uploading would be cool.  I know some American collectors (who I have told about this show) who want to see this as well.

Did I also mention that I watch less than 2 hours of TV a week now? Who has time for those sort of things.

Sadly, I tape 3 hours of TV a week. This has been going on for some time, and I have quite a backlog.

I don't watch much TV either as I rather surf online now days.  I don't need hollywood puppets to keep me entertained.

The only show I will make an effort to try and watch on a weekly basis is My Name is Earl.  I keep missing Curb Your Enthusiasm as Show Case isn't a station I tune into much.

And this thread as officially been derailled.  And what the heck is Jerich :chicken:o

Back on topic......

I just finished watching it.  Ryan and Greg Brown from Texas as well as there better halfs (aka Tina,) made the show work.  Bascially, you had a nice dichotomy represented here.  It was well done.

I still don't get paintball with GI JOE. There is hardly a connection between the two. Even though Ryan tried to sell it, I didn't buy it.

And little Ryan dressed as Sgt. Slaughter for Halloween.  I might not let this down. lol

Oh, I saw the Chinese Bludd I gave you.  I was looking for it. lol

I must be the only one here who watched.

I watched the repeat as well as a) there is nothing on at 11:30 PM and b) I wanted to see the converted masterbed room/toy room again.

Dude you should really put a space between Master and Bed - I misread that for a second.

I watched it as well, but not until this morning as Denise worked last night.

LOVE the Slaughter outfit my man. ;-)

I'm not going to bother converting the recording I did as it has commercials and 'TVTropolis' logo on it.

Once Scramble gets the legit one, and rips me a copy - I'll convert that one, split it into parts, and upload it to youtube.

Mind you, I'm not going to erase the one I have - JUST in case PeacePoint doesn't send Ryan one.

I liked the way they portrayed you and Tina, but hated the entire Paintball part.
It had no point in being there.

What I did find amusing is that you have Ryan saying it will be his first time playing - then they have quick cuts to him saying how much fun it is to do this with friends!?

You should of shown off Black Ice... :shifty: No more of this lame Backstop stuff. ;-)

Overall I liked it - of course I think it had something to do with the fact that I knew the people in it. Didn't care about the other guy, I have no interest in 12" joes or his life.
I found your segments focused more on the hobby itself - and his were more on his family.

Oh, by the way - did you get a haircut that morning Ryan? ;-)

I caught the first five minutes at 7:00, went to see Spider-Man, then got home in time to see the next five minutes.

Trust me, I wasn't selling the paintball. I was selling my Men and their Toys board game (which didn't make it on), the recreated speed painting contest (also didn't make it on), and just being able to talk GI Joe with friends (who were mostly all cut). I'm not shocked that the only "visually dynamic element" filmed that made the cut was paintball, nor am I surprised they used other quotes to support the footage, but I am disappointed. What I am surprised is how little of my cartoon-related quotes were used.

Sadly Mike, I did plug Black Ice, Joecanuck.com, and even MOTH, but none of the plugs made it on.

I guess it turned out pretty well. I didn't find I looked as comfortable as I did on the Ottawa news footage (you'll recall it's the other time this year I was on TV talking GI Joe), but it's still fun seeing myself on TV. My brother was in a hotel room flipping channels at 11:30 last night when he surfed past a picture of us as kids. When he turned back, he saw me talking GI Joes and described it as "the wierdest moment of his life".

I confirmed my adress with them, so I expect the DVD in a couple of weeks. Mind you, I also confirmed the spelling of Tina's last name and that she was my fianc? and they got both of those wrong. I did get perverse amusement out of seeing her listed as my Wife but in all my stories I talk about my great girlfriend.

Hey all,

I was the other guy on the show, after Ryan.  I've yet to get my DVD from the show, so was kinda interested to see what slant they put on me.  Has anyone put this on YouTube yet?

Thanks,

Greg Brown/Eklyps

Scramble (Ryan), got his DVD and has sent me a copy of it (I assume he has by now  :shifty: ).
Once I get it, I'll convert it, split it into chapters, then upload it to Youtube.

It should only take a day once I get the DVD.

I don't have a DVD burner, so I only just got it copied Monday (as Mike will tell you, I don't live in this century), and yesterday I was sick. If all goes well, it's going out tonight.

Greg, I don't know you personally so I couldn't tell you how accurate it was, but I'd say your segment went pretty well. The only complaint I had was they didn't show a comparrison picture of the lady's son who you made a custom of.

Well, they screwed up on some things - one being that I used to be a roofer (I ran a customer service department for a roofing manufacturer).  I corrected this mistake before they even began filming, but they ran with the error anyway.  I didn't have my picture of what Erik looked like in Northern Iraq (lost it when I left that particular company) but his mother and I gave them pics of what he looked like in Bosnia and at home (guess they didn't show any pics).   I really don't do a lot of those kinds of figures (maybe two or three a year), so I thought it odd that they wanted to focus on that aspect of what I do.  Guess it was like you and the paintball.

Still waiting to get my copy from them as well.  Said they mailed it on the 9th...

Greg, I watched it twice.  Unless I was out of it, there was no mention that you were a former roofer.  They focused on your current career and you famiily.  I really enjoyed your part on the show.  Nice collection.  Although I don't collect 12" figures, I do appreciate looking at them as no 12" = no 3 3/4.  As for the custom of the soldier in Iraq, Fanatics did it seem that you did alot of these.

The best part (in terms of advice) was how you didn't force GI JOE onto your kids.  Got a kick out watch them having fun with the remote control tank.

I'm glad they didn't bring the roofer snafu on the show itself (still haven't seen it, btw).

I started collecting Joe back in the late 70's, starting with the last remnants of the Adventure Team, then got Super Joe, then they quit making them.  Was happy to see them making Joe in 1982, with Stalker and Snake Eyes being my first two purchases. Stuck with the RAH line until about '92, when I was in college, then quite due to the disenchantment with Hasbro making pink and purple weapons (the vehicles weren't really grabbing me either).  Most of the stuff on the show was from when I was a kid, with a few items acquired at shows and garage sales.  I only migrated to the 12" guys in mid-1990 for I have a weakness for WWII and Modern stuff...
