Check in if you're planning to be in Hamillton in April, huh? :)
I'm guessing the attendee list for The Meet is going to be way more than ever before and I'm damn curious how many people on this board are actually making the trip.
-
oh ill be there with bells on. and a buch of customs with me.
-
I"ll be there.
-
I"ll be there.
Aye Ditto for me.
-
I, snake charmer, shall be attending. Yo Joe.
-
I'll be attending the Joe Meet!! Thankfully I don't have to go too far to get there.

You guys know you can RSVP on the Official Facebook Event page as well right? ;-)

i dont have a face book so this will have to do lol.
-
I'll be there, again! Been looking forward to it ever since last year!
-
i'll be there...it's gonna be huge this year.....
-
I don't have a facebook either nor will I ever have one. I have a myspace and its ridiculous enough, the facebook is just one "look at me, look at me" site for 'networking' on.

You have no clue how so very very wrong you are.
It is NOT a MySpace, and the privacy options you set on your account per user is phenomenal.
Don't judge it - until you've used it.
You'd be very shocked to find out how thrilled you are to use it over MySpace - or anything for that matter.
-
I have a facebook account, although I rarely use it. Doesn't impress me, and the security implications it presents from a personal information point of view are questionable, to say the least.
I would think that doing anything "official" regarding the meet or the site exclusively on facebook is an inherently bad idea.

I wouldn't do anything 'exclusively' on it - just maybe leak a preview picture or outline picture there before here. ;-)
Not that I've done that or anything...... :shifty:
-
You misunderstood what I meant.
Here's what I meant.
http://www.techcrunch.com/2007/08/22/fa ... ct-future/ (http://www.techcrunch.com/2007/08/22/facebook-will-use-profiles-to-target-ads-predict-future/)
This is scary as well:
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/02/08 ... _security/ (http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/02/08/facebook_security/)
"Beacon" is a good example of Facebook's motives.
http://www.alleyinsider.com/2007/11/fac ... beaco.html (http://www.alleyinsider.com/2007/11/facebooks-beaco.html)
Also, this shows how stupid the average facebook user is in terms of security.
http://www.smh.com.au/news/national/fac ... 08684.html (http://www.smh.com.au/news/national/facebook-security-loophole-warning/2007/10/28/1192941408684.html)
http://www.webuser.co.uk/news/147313.html (http://www.webuser.co.uk/news/147313.html)
So while *YOU* may be careful, the people you a have on your friends list may not be - so if their accounts get exploited, then the exploiter has access to YOUR profile as well.
Facebook is in this to make money. They make money off of selling your personal information and habits.
See here:
http://avilesnews.blogspot.com/2008/01/ ... users.html (http://avilesnews.blogspot.com/2008/01/facebook-continues-to-sell-out-users.html)
They also reserve the right to do something like this without prior notice:
http://the.ricethresher.org/opinion/200 ... violations (http://the.ricethresher.org/opinion/2006/09/15/facebook_privacy_violations)
Some more info regarding their policies, and how they work AGAINST you in terms of privacy:
Here is some corresponding legalese about cookies from the Facebook privacy policy:
?Advertisements that appear on Facebook are sometimes delivered (or ?served?) directly to users by third party advertisers. They automatically receive your IP address when this happens. These third party advertisers may also download cookies to your computer, or use other technologies such as JavaScript and ?web beacons? (also known as ?1?1 gifs?) to measure the effectiveness of their ads and to personalize advertising content. Doing this allows the advertising network to recognize your computer each time they send you an advertisement in order to measure the effectiveness of their ads and to personalize advertising content. In this way, they may compile information about where individuals using your computer or browser saw their advertisements and determine which advertisements are clicked. Facebook does not have access to or control of the cookies that may be placed by the third party advertisers. Third party advertisers have no access to your contact information stored on Facebook unless you choose to share it with them.
This privacy policy covers the use of cookies by Facebook and does not cover the use of cookies or other tracking technologies by any of its advertisers. ?
Now you might ask: isn?t that some kind of breach of contract? Well, according to their terms of service, Facebook can do pretty much anything with your information that it wants.
?By posting User Content to any part of the Site, you automatically grant, and you represent and warrant that you have the right to grant, to the Company an irrevocable, perpetual, non-exclusive, transferable, fully paid, worldwide license (with the right to sublicense) to use, copy, publicly perform, publicly display, reformat, translate, excerpt (in whole or in part) and distribute such User Content for any purpose, commercial, advertising, or otherwise, on or in connection with the Site or the promotion thereof, to prepare derivative works of, or incorporate into other works, such User Content, and to grant and authorize sublicenses of the foregoing.?

wow thats nuts about facebook.
-

I'll be in Hamilton April 19th.
-
I will be there.
As for the thread detrailing part, I hate myspace. I hate navigating through people's profiles with monster sized pictures, hearing some lame song playing in the background, the number of fakes on there, the porno type of cards people send etc. Meh, it's a cesspool of crap.
As for Facebook, I can deal with it. But when I went to check my privacy settings last week (haven't done it since joining), I was shocked to see that those bastards had changed them. I had to change everything back to "people I now" that can view my stuff. The reason why I went back to check is that I have been hearing alot of shit on the news in terms of what I call invasion of privacy. Police, schools, employers, sports athletic boards, third parties etc. are accessing peoples profiles and . Gee, I wonder why they profiles were getting accessed (insert sarcasm). But I am not worried about I D theft. Most people don't know that Peter or Pete isn't my legal name.
-
I'll be at JoeCanuck again. Got my vacation time put in & my GPS so I don't get lost... again.
-
who is up for a meet up friday before the con? if so we should have a contact list
-
There is a 99.9% chance that I will be coming.
-
I'll be there. I might even be there on the friday night.
-
My older son and I will be there. If I am adventurous that day, both my sons will be coming.
Paul
-
I'll be there. ;D
I see admission is 5.00. How much more to get Snow Bank?
-
I got the facebook messege to send out invites so I did and a bunch of them signed up.
Also it's official I am coming (along with my buddy Andrew and possibly 3 others)
-
I'll be there. ;D

The figures are generally $25.00 and it includes admission.
I won't have a solid price point for a few weeks yet. Still getting arms from people... so far, they've all been donations - which means it will stay at $25.00. ;-)
-
I'll be there of course.
As for Facebook... don't post anything online that you don't mind the whole world reading... and you're okay.
It's the people who put their personal bull@%$@ and take out their vendettas online that are at risk.
I mean... do I really care if Facebook is going to publish a list of Jon S's favourite foods and sell it?
-
ill be there. ;D
-
I'll have something (hopefully) set up in the next few days for you all to use....
-
i'll be making the long trip (3km) to the show from my house!
-
i'll be making the long trip (3km) to the show from my house!
you civilized people and your metric system! what's that in US-sensibly crazy measurement, like a mile and a half? ;D

-
I will be there....
-
I'll be there.
-
Not sure if I replied to this thread or not, but I'll be there.
-
I'm going and so is my brother ;D
-
You're kidding right?
Of course I'll be there. And I'm bringing big bad Chief Dan with me.
-

Yep -- The oil tycoons are going to make a fortune off me this trip -- I'm driving all the way from Denver -- and bringing a couple bins of goodies for the freebie table.
Can't wait!
-
i'm already there.
-
I'm still looking into my travel options but I should be there.
-
I'll be there bright and early with a wad of cash and a giant red bull.
-
I can make it after all and probably bringing you know who ;)
-
I wasn't supposed to show up but I will. Bus is going to cost me but I know it's worth it. I was there last meet and altough I didnt get a chance to speak with everyone, I will have that chance this time. And I could always stay for the after party too!
-
I'll be there with tables full of g i joe, transformers, starwars and other action figures. Mostly complete loose stuff in great shape
-
I'll be there with a couple of tables - lots of vintage joes and some other stuff.
Alot came out of my personal collection - downsizing.
Will probably see a couple of Roboskull, and some sears dreadnok stuff.
