I like to keep up to date on what Joe Sites are out there... I may not post at them all, but I do like to check them from time to time.
I was checking google for something, and stumbled upon this one:
www.gijoemuseum.com (http://www.gijoemuseum.com)
If you can get by the layout, and the extremely CRAPPY "oh hold on the phone" music, then check it out and post back here what you think.
And before you ask, NO, I don't own it or have a hand in it. I don't know who does.
Toss that link around on other places like JoeCustoms, YoJoe, JoeSightings, etc etc etc.
I want to know what it's about!!! So someone find out and post some info! ;-)
Thanks guys.

There isn't much to say except it's like looking into a empty cardboard box. There is nothing there.

A couple things come immediatley to mind
1) Official logo - doesn't Hasbro frown on the unauthorized use of the GIJOE logo?
2) Site loads WAY slow, even on broadband on a fast music
3) Music makes me want to stab my ears with a q-tip
4) Seems like a lot of work for what's essentially "fluff" with a "just WAIT!" followup.
Ultimately, I think... "meh".

I am under the impression that they want to create a physical museum, hence the need for a board. The website seems like a way to generate PR and funding.
Either that or a scam.

Either that or a scam. :shifty:). So don't expect their support.
This is no way items I have involved in my collection (and I do have some rare stuff) would be involved in some thing like this. It stays with me as I trust no one. I know other high end collections wouldn't have there rare stuff on loan either. So unless this guy owns every freaking piece of GI JOE history (figures, vehicles, international figures, paper work, comis, promotional items etc.) this idea sounds like it is: Dumb.
My gut is telling me there is a hidden agenda here with this site.

All's I can say is "hmmm?" A doll/action figure toy museum may work if a corporation like Disney built one at their parks as an attraction, but a stand alone museum--I'll visit fellow Joecanucks houses to see vintage and rare up close.

"On hold on the phone music" indeed! It's awful!
The site looks nice - someone with some knowledge involved there. But it's all flash, no substance right now. I don't know any of the names listed.
I don't think it's a scam or a hidden agenda, I just think it's a couple people who haven't thought through their idea very well. I bet once they begin to 'do' something they'll abandon the idea. My bet says no museum will ever be created and no accredited toy/comic people will ever be 'honourary members'. They could maybe make a nice-looking board, but I don't see an actual museum (permanent or travelling) arising. Ridiculous.

That isn't a bad idea. You get a ton of people going through their anyways, including kids. But Mickey wouldn't want a Megatron pointed at him.
