Joecanuck Question #1) Nearly a year ago, we (Canada) was told that HTS would start shipping to Canada. Transformers, Star Wars, GI Joe collectors and others have all been waiting for HTS to finally start this. Are there any updates as to when we can expect this to happen?
HASBRO Answers: We will follow up with HTS on this. Thanks for the patience and as always, the enthusiasm.
Joecanuck Question #2) Will the G.I.JOE resolute cartoon be picked up by a Canadian station such as YTV or Tele-Toon?
HASBRO Answers: We do not yet know if Resolute will air in Canada.
Joecanuck Question #3) There have been some major omissions in the re-releases. Are any of the following carded figures anticipated? Quick Kick , Dr. Mindbender, Zandar, Zarana, Recondo
HASBRO Answers: None of the mentioned figures will be single carded, but some of these we are working on for 2009 and beyond.
Joecanuck Question #4) Has (or will) any Canadian retailer picked up the Ultimate Battle Pack Target exclusive?
HASBRO Answers: To our knowledge, this has not been picked up in Canada.
Joecanuck Question #5) Can you provide any updates on a full release of the original Sunbow cartoon on DVD?
HASBRO Answers: We are looking into options for this.
-
Hopefully Resolute will be picked up - I think Teletoon pciked up Clone Wars a year later.
There's always Youtube.
-
Well, we know that Resolute will be 5-minute-long clips on the internet, anyway, so no loss there. Besides, they'll probably just make a DVD pack with the whole series and some of the Resolute figures.
Something tells me Mindbender and Zarana will be in DVD packs.
-
So basically we're getting shafted as usual. :- >:(
-
There's a whole lotta "No" going on.

It's shown on CTV. Sundays at 7 PM.

I am not surprised by the Hasbro answers.

Pete, I think he's talking about the mini-series one that was done ala Resolute will be - 4 and 5 minute mini-episodes. It took awhile for those to air up here in Canada. Cartoon Network had them, then StarWars.com (Hyperspace members), then Canada.
-
I read that as "Sorry......Probably not.......No......No......Doubt it" respectively.

Thanks as always guys. unfortunately Hasbro didn't have much good news for us this time around.
Some more Q&A from around the net.

This question has been put to Hasbro and Hasbro Canada for the past 10 years.
And every time its been the exact same answer.
The conclusion I'm forced to draw is that the Canadian consumer base is considered simply not large enough to make the effort to arrange shipping of HTS goods up here.
I guess if the 5% or 10% additional earnings ( a guess) HTS would make from sales up here are not worth overcoming the "obstacles" to setting this up--then we will NEVER see shipping from this outfit to Canada--and this answer is just more of a decade's worth of passing the buck.
I've just thrown my hands up in disgust and no longer care.

I agree with you completely Arrow. Let's all make a pact. No more asking about HTS. It isn't worth our time to waste 1 out of 5 questions with this anymore. No surprise on the UBP. Oh, let's also stop with the questions about possible single card/upcoming figures. Hasbro released a statement about this so let's skip this question for the forseeable future.
Overall I would have to give Joecustoms the nod for best set of 5 questions. I wasn't even aware of Dusty having a different body design than the rest of the line. I also want to find out what this supposed "large playset/vehicle possibility will be. Oh, and more extreme conditions packs YAY!!! I would vote for a Jungle theme, and an underwater theme.

Overall, from all the sites, it seems like there was a good, large base of questions with fewer repeats than previous Q&As.
I'm liking a couple things:
Looks like more Extreme Conditions packs!!
More Troopbuilder packs!!
And it seems like there is something coming from Hasbro in regards to a larger vehicle/playset, but they aren't revealing what yet. Hopefully at Toyfair.

Urban EC pack. Mixed team with Urban Camo.
Jungle EC pack. Mixed Team with Jungle Camo.
Night EC pack. Paravipers with Digital Black and Grey Camo
Water EC pack. With eels and divers.
Oh yes. Oooooh yes.
Cap it off with a BATS army builder pack, and I'm good till the movie.

Is this a wish list or is this for real?

Hasbro said that the first round of Extreme Condition sets were a success and they are looking into releasing more (including a G.I. Joe one), but I don't think they gave any more detail then that.

I agree. No more questions about HTS. We have been dicked around for over a year. HTS will be in Canada when the Toronto Maple Leafs win the cup. Plus, look at the problems Americans are having with HTS

If they can't handle the American customers, why on earth would I bother dealing with them. This is a bush league company based on all the complaints I have read.

Oh, I don't know..... we should ask them one more last time in the next Q & A - something along the lines of "In the last JoeCanuck Q & A, you stated you would "follow up with HTS on this." - have you followed up and FINALLY, after 10 years of Canadians being shut out of purchasing from HTS have a solid definite answer as to WHEN they will start shipping to Canada?"
I mean, if we don't ask them to follow up in the next round of questions, - then why ask at all?
Actually, if I have the time, I'll find the Q &A's from Snowtroopers, here and any other CND sites that have asked this question and include it as part of the question.
There's stuff I want on that site that I shouldn't have to ask others to get for me... and I'm not just talking GI Joe items.

I'm sorry but a follow up won't matter. This has been ongoing for supposedly 10 years (I only know of about 5) and it hasn't changed. I would rather not waste one of only 5 questions on a follow up question. We all get it, they aren't going to do anything about it, otherwise they would have already. Especially now that Christmas has come and gone.
-
Ah, but last year they stated it would be starting in Spring. We haven't really asked them again until this most recent one where they stated they WILL contact them.

Sorry Mike, I may be cynical, but I think you are reading too much into their answers. They are purposely vague to prevent any problem from a legal standpoint. This is just more of the same and quite frankly I don't see them having any more answers next time.

I was asking Hasbro Canada reps ( iirc one was named Michelle Crispo) and Hasbro USA about this as far back at 1997--specifically regarding Action Man sets that were available on the website as it stood then.
The answer from Hasbro at that time was the same as it is now: "we'll look into it" or "it'll happen in 6 months" or " its coming next year". The question has apparently been asked at the annual GIJOE conventions, been put to brand managers like Derryl DePriest--all of whom I'm sure have tried their best to give a straight honest answer.
Its always been the same, and NOTHING as ever happened about it.
-
They might as well just say "HTS Canada is slated to open when Duke Nukem Forever comes out."
-
wow, I'd like to stay positive for a moment but there was a whole lot of either "no" or "we'll get back to you on that (i.e. probably wont happen in our lifetime)"
Sounds terrible.

Hey now. At least the new Guns and Roses CD finally made it out. ;D
