Title: Wal~Mart raises prices on Singles
Post by: Storm.Shadow on January 02, 2009, 09:24:02 AM
I'm not sure if this is happening in all stores but my local Wal~Mart has raised the price of their single carded figures to $8.92.
That's certainly not going to help them clear out all those left over Scarlett and Flint in Cobra disguise figures.

I have.

As for the price increase, got to love corporations in this economic uncertainty who are maintaining or trying to increase their bottom line. ::)  Over inflated prices on a lot of retail goods should be dropping, not increasing.

That is for certain. I just don't get Hasbro sometimes. With the costs of oil gone down substantially since the summer why have figures gone up? By the time the movie figures hit, they are gonna be $9.99 or $10.99 each.

So you have them at $8.92 now, but that would be about $7.30 US Dollar. Which is what I thought they were around already. So maybe you guys are just catching up to us in pricing???

You guys need to remember that Hasbro doesn't set the retail price.  Also, these figures were probably made 3 months ago at a higher price point for oil.

The fact is that with the price increases in the US we were getting a good deal at Walmart on these and now it is catching up to us.  Factor in that Walmart is the one "winner" this year in a bad economy, and they don't really have to worry too much about pricing.

Wal-Mart said in the fall that the stock they had bought during the days of the high Cdn dollar would last until Christmas and that prices wouldn't rise.  Now that Christmas is over, this is likey a reflection of the currency change.

Just passed by a Wal-Mart this evening and the prices have been raised. The crappy part is that it's all leftover pegwarmers on the shelf now, so the increased price is even less of an incentive to pick them up.  Hopefully, we get some more new stuff soon.

I was in niagara Falls this weekend, and it seems to me that it is only the canadian walmarts that have raised their price for gijoes, as thay are still the same price as last summer in the states.

sad news at my nearest W-M. They unloaded several palettes of toys last night but among them was nothing Joe other than a single case of wave 1 vehicles (HISS asst) and more Combat Heroes. I have been waiting for them to fill the 25th pegs for nearly a month now. A month ago I got an entire wave there and since then they maybe put out two more cases and then nothing. Now the 25th pegs have Combat Heroes on them.
