Maybe I wasn't paying attention too well, but weren't these two events a week apart at one point?
This may make my decision on whether I am attending (also partialy due to me having to buy $500 in passports for myself, my wife and 3 kids for my sister's wedding in Va (thank you Bush and Obama)) a little easier.

You'd pick a couple of free comics over the Canadian GI Joe Convention?
When you see the last exclusive debut next week - I don't think so. ;-)
...and who's to say we won't have free comics as well?
Or at least.... comics.
-
Plus if you have a regular retailer, he'll set the comics aside for you. I mean they're free! When I bought comics my buddy always would put some aside if I didn't get there that day.
Joecon all the way!
-
I agree the joe con is better then some free comic give aways, your local dealer will likley put some stuff aside for you if your a regular. Our main shop in London is like that. Trust me the convention figures they offer at this show are amazing and worth coming for let alone all the other cool stuff.
-
Which is your shop in London? I'm not sure mine will.............

Go for the free comics, of course!!!
The exclusives really aren't all that this year and you'll enjoy the comics much more.

(The plan is working, one less person to compete with for the exclusives!!!)

Consider this. Where will you have more fun? Standing in line to get free comics that usually aren't that great - or standing in line for the Canadian G.I. Joe Convention where you're sure to have a blast!
Plus, it will be MUCH easier and cheaper to buy those free comics later if you "really" want them than it would be the Con set. ;-)

Which Comic store in London? Heroes? If so then I'm a customer.

As a matter of fact, yes it is Heroes.
Will they hold for you?

BTW, the exclusives do look great Mike!

Quiet you!!! No logic allowed here!!!

True - if you get there early enough to get them......

Plus I notice the free comic book day free comics where just reprints of titles they want you to try reading. Which is a great idea but I usaly already have them all as normal editions. Plus they are mass produced and hold no real value. The joe con has the exclusive figure set which is not mass produced and I see what they end up going for in the future. Then for a real collector like me if I had them I would never sell them they are cool and can't be relaced. The Joe con is a blast I can't wait.

Free Comic Day is made up mostly of comics you might already have. I still think its cool and a great way to get people into the hobby. However they always order more then they need and you can go in pretty much whenever even after the day is over and get free stuff.
The Joe Con has a lot more going for it. :)

Even though this thread has greatly detoured from my original question:
Are there any comic stores close to the convention?

YES! And they're supporting the Convention via ads in their stores:
Comic 1 - Not near it - but a wicked guy.
44 King Street E., Stoney Creek, ON
905-664-3777
Comic Connection
895 King Street W., Hamilton, ON
905-522-2357
Conpiracy Comics
844 King Street West
Hamilton ON
905 540 9700
The last two are literally a block away from each other - about a 5 min drive from the Con.
-
Maybe one or two of the dealers who own comic stores might bring some copies of the Free Comic Day GI Joe comic from this year.
-
Perfect. Thanks Mike.
Maybe we can get a bus going!
-
If any one is planning to jump out to a comic shop, only these two stores will have anything for non-regular customers:
Comic Connection
895 King Street W., Hamilton, ON
905-522-2357
Conpiracy Comics
844 King Street West
Hamilton ON
905 540 9700
