Hey does anyone know if the Red and black cobra troopers that where being sold at the show that many or us picked up that where molded in the 1982-83 cobra mold are they bootlegs? Plus Does anyone know for sure what they are, I was told buy the guy selling them that they where unreleased figures. On yojoe.com they insited they are bootlegs.
-
They're bootlegs
-
Probablly bootlegs, do you have pics of them? Just curious how they look
-
Like Nova stated, they are 100% bootlegs.
-
Good to know they are cool either way, plus I would have bought them either way wish I could get more for cheap.
-
Also does anyone know when they where made?
-
I can confirm 100% that they are bootlegs. Hasbro also confirmed this on Saturday
-
I saw Viper's set, they looked pretty decent, but obviously nothing official about them, :(
maybe lunchtime troopers?

No offense, but hasbro always calls these type of things bootlegs. If you call them bootlegs I give more credence to you on the issue than hasbro. I guess a question to better clarify it is: were these made in a Hasbro factory or outside of a hasbro factory.
-
100% without a shadow of a doubt these are unofficial figures made without Hasbro's permission or knowledge. They are bootlegs in every sense of the word.
-
I bought 2 of them without being 100% sure they were bootleg (ok, 99% sure). But they look very cool. When I came back home, I made 2 serious tests:
1. Back hole
2. Feet hole
In previous 1983 Bootleg Blue Cobra soldiers I got (without knowing they were bootlegs >:( ) their holes (back and feet) were smaller. So, they can't hold on stand's peg and they can't have a backpack in their back.
The 3rd test was about their rivest arms. The bootleg Cobra soldiers I have, have their elbow rivest backward.
So these we saw at the con (Red, black and tan... yes they also got a tan version...) had none of those problems. So they are bootlegs, but very well done bootlegs.

-
Does anyone have 1 extra of each colour that they can sell/trade. I didnt get any and must have missed them, as i dont remember seeing them. I just would like one of each.
-
I could sell you one red. The black I have 6 in a squad.
-

-

-

They were all plastic baggies.

They should call these Hotcake troopers because that's how they were selling on Saturday. I was stationed next to the gentlemen who were selling these(and some other very cool Hong Kong goodies) and I'm pretty sure the only thing that sold in greater numbers may have been the exclusive Canadian JoeCon set.
This was a conversation I overheard about five different times between the sellers and different buyers:
"Do you have more of these?"
"How many do you want?"
"How many do you have?"
"How many do you want?"
and so on...
I had to ask a friend, who is far more Joe-savvy than I, what was so special about these particular loose troopers and he explained that they were really good bootlegs. I ended up buying one just out of sheer curiosity. The black ones were much more popular than the reds. They must have run out of tan troopers early if they were selling that colour also.
-
I saw them. How much were they selling for?
-
$20 each.
At the end of the day you could get one red and one black for $30.
Looks like they're available on ebay. May be the same seller:
