Since there have been a number of sets going up on ebay, I thought it might be interesting to keep a thread going on the final prices each set has ended with. We all know Xhair got $511 US for his set number 13. The next one I've been following is from kewl-enterprise. His set was number 62 and it went for $740 US. I'm now following another, set number 85. This one won't end for another couple of days, so it will be interesting to see how this one does.
-
Their was also another set that ended yesterday. I'm not sure of the number, but it sold for 470. set number 85 is my uncles, on my ebay account, its at 338 with one day to go.

for only 500 dollars, it can be yours, :)
Too bad you can't just switch box lids with him, :)

I hope my wife never sees this page. She would make me sell mine for sure. Then I'd be minus a Con set and a wife.

Wait, how would you lose both, I can see one or the other, :)
Unless of course the wife sold the set and ran off with the cash. . .a scenario I am intimately familiar with, lol.
-
If I didn't sell the set. I would be divorced and would be forced to sell the set anyway to pay legal bills and what ever else she takes. And if I sold the set I would be so angry, I would never talk to her again---hence divorce. Childish yes, but that's me and my Joes!

I thought $500 for the set was crazy, but this is much more crazy:
Shiver for 600+
Was thinking of bidding at 200, but DAAAAANG

That is very interesting Roshan, Mu-ha....Mu-ha....Mu-hahahahaha!!!!! ::)
wow, this goes way beyond the expectations I had for the 2007 Joe Meet exclusive figure. It kind of proves that Joe completists around the world won't rest until one of these guys makes it into their collection.
I guess Shiver no.22's time will come sooner than expected...
-
Yeah I hesitated posting this and thought, 'well if LJ wants a tanks set I could just buy it from MC and then trade it for the shiver" :P
But nah, that'd be uncool. Go put it up on the bay and reap some huge cash.

Who is MC? Master Collection? They don't have the HATE tank set... only Mike still have one left

Hey latinjoe,
I was trying to send you a pm about your shiver, but it doesn't seem to be working I don't know why, maybe coz I just registered here? Really have no idea on what's the problem, I don't even get an error message.
Anyway if you're interested please pm your email and I'll email you back.
Thx
-
Yes Martin, MC=Master Collectors
No, "Tanks" is a short for "Tanks for the Memories", I'm not referring to the Hate tank. I am always looking for that set. Can't get over the fact I lost it to ViperLord at the 2008 Joe Meet

Don't understand what's the problem, but it just doesn't work. Can you pm your email and we can speak through there instead? Unless there's some way to fix this pm problem.

I got your PM Brolly, PM sent to you too.

Seems like at least 10% of the sets have hit ebay.
Why is everyone selling them?
-
Seems like at least 10% of the sets have hit ebay.
Why is everyone selling them?
Obviously because the set is sub-standard. KIDDING!!!!
I would hazard a guess that the most sets were sold for financial reasons that couldn't be avoided.
Some later sets I think were sold because sellers started to see the pricing of sets sold and wanted to get in on the action.
-

Obviously to make huge amounts of cash that would probably go straight back into buying a massive amount of future product which in turn fuels Hasbro to constantly bombard us with ever more awesome stuff.
Me personally, if I waited in line that long I'd be keeping them around a long time.
Oh, looks like canprime beat me to it.... disregard my statement.

In all likelihood, the current market price ($500 or more) is too tempting for people to resist.
500 bucks is a lot of money for a $125 investment.
-

Yeah, that might be misleading. . .based on the number of the set, not the number of sets, right?
Did I miss something?

The "Offered by Hasbro" part.
They were offered by the canadian Joe convention, not Hasbro

that's the part i was referring to...hasbro gracially donated parts, but did not actually "officially" offer the sets. they were assembled and offered by the canjoecon organizers.

sorry guys, my mistake. I just assumed it was like the joe con usa, then again, maybe I'm confused there as well.
I can't seem to make any changes, how odd.
-
I can't seem to make any changes, how odd.
Try "adding to the description". I didn't use it in over a year but It should be there as an option if Ebay has not deleted this feature. If you tried that and it's not there, then in my books you did the best you could.
-
Add to Description is there - Click on Revise item, then scroll down under your listing - there's a spot for you to update it.

That's it Narceron, there's your definitive answer . You won't be able to change the previous content of the description that's for sure, but you can "add to description", meaning you can add a phrase or two that will immediatly follow your current description saying you were simply partying hard or something like that when you listed the item and a mistake slipped in the description and you wish to correct it ;D. Damn booze!
-
I just didn't want to give Hasbro credit for someone else's work, :)

Hello All,
Due to the ever increasing costs associated with getting married on top of the usual bills. I have come to the tough decision of parting with my Convention set. Just posted up on ebay the set is set number 23 of 100. Link and item number listed below.

Funny, the great sell off has been going well for me, except for the con set, lol.
Maybe its a sign I should keep it, just as well, it will look menacing next to my toon drome, :)

Sometimes when times are though and other priorities seem to weight more, it's natural to feel we have to make sacrifices. But maybe the fact that every other sale besides the con set's went well, means that you should keep it afterall until the right time comes. Enjoy it in the meatime, it is by far one of the best exclusive sets I've ever owned, and for this reason I plan to keep my #22 along with my permanent resident #22 SNOWBANK. You should get a sky Patrol vehicle if you don't have one and put it next to the HATE, they will both look awesome ;D.

Looks like these sets might be starting to cool off a bit now. After a dozen or so Ebay I'm thinking the hard core buyers with deep pockets have already gotten their fill.
-
agreed, :)
I figure I'll hold on to mine and if Xhairs decides he wants one, I'll sell it to him, :)
-
I think a big part of it is the fact that Comic Con just happened, and the U.S. JoeCon is about to happen.
I'm positive the demand is still there for these. It's just that people are using their money for other con items right now - and summer.
-

Obviously the sets are not in that big a demand, so feel free to send me your sets and I'll make sure they get a good home!!
I think that Mike is partially right. I also think that summer time is a big lull with people spending money on vacations and upcoming bills (back to school, etc). Also, refund cheques are long gone now so splurging on extras is on the downslide.
I would watch more closely near Christmas when someone needs a killer present for their mate/friend/whatever.
-
im holding mine for a long time yet, i love the set, and it is my first ever con exclusive, for any toy brand. i think ill take it out of the box and apply the stickers before i get rid of it

Mark W. Bellomo's set is up...

It does make me wary to see these as listed in C10 shape. They are custom figures after all, I am pretty sure that none of them qualify for C-10 even as they came out of our hands and were placed directly by Mike into the box.
It's nice to see the efforts appreciated, but anyone that tries to represent fan produced content as having the quality of factory produced content may be being a little misleading. We did our best, but we didn't have a factory.

Depends on how you look at it. It's C-10 relative to the condition it was in when it was received.

Box - Factory Made
Foam Insert - Factory Made
Comic Book - Factory Made
Weapons - Factory Made
Stickers - Factory Made
Chroming of Tanks - Factory done.
Just sayin'.
And I wish Mark the best of luck in the sale of his con set. He purchased one just like everyone else and is free to do with it what he wants. I know the reason he's selling, so I personally hope it reaches the highest price yet for the set. ;-)

Then the same figures that you buy mint on card in stores don't qualify as C-10 neither as the figures are hand manipulated by workers several times before making their way into their packaging. I think there should be a line drawn between "played with" and "manipulated". I'm sure that the Canadian Con set items were just "manipulated", therefore deserving to preserve their C-10 status.
As for the figures, factory made or not, debate what you think, I believe it's pointless anyway, as that the majority of its process involved factory work, therefore it's not only factory-made because of this, but also "made in Canada" just for anyone's information.

I agree with all of this, and you did a great job with all of it - but I was thinking more of the figures. I just can't see a customized figure being considered c10.
-

Agreed. It's like a baseball card with autograph on it. The autograph ruins the condition of the card.

As a card, but it opens it up to a whole new market as a collectible.

Agreed. Look at Realboss's recent Rowdy Roddy Piper auction. It sold for over $300 and it was autographed by Roddy himself. Where the previous few auctions of that figure never made it to $300. An autograph, especially from someone well loved, or rarely signed usually only increases the value of an item.
-
Just to chime in, I ran into some financial trouble and had to resell the second autographed set I had managed to buy to a private collector for $600 (not through eBay). I think it was set #83. I still have set #66 with everyone's autographs on the front of the box.
-
Is it just me, or does anybody else have a Frostback trooper that has a non glossy head? Mine from my #22 set came like this. I only noticed the difference when I saw everybody else's pics of Frostback and realized that mine may be unique. I also acquired set #75 before deciding to break it, and this time Frostback in there has a glossy head.
-
It's pretty even. They weren't all painted the same day.
