Title: Fort Eustis
Post by: pdaat on July 26, 2009, 09:07:06 AM
Fort Eustis is a base in Virginia that is the home of the US Army Transportation Corps.  They have a museum on the base that shows the history of U.S. military transportation.  One of my favourite stops on the trip.

You can see with some of the displays where the ideas for many concept vehicles came frmo in the Joeverse.

I put a bunch of pics on my Facebook page for those who want to see them.

The Fort Lewis Military Museum, on the I-5, south of Tacoma in Washington state, also has  similar displays, and its accessible to the public as well.
Of note at the site is a prototype Hummer, that smacks of the VAMP.

Canadian War museum in Ottawa has a huge collection of War vehicles.  I never saw the American collection, so I can't compare...  but it's definitely worth seeing.  It's all on display in the gallery section.

If you can go on a civic holiday, Ottawa museums are free ;)

I go to one almost every long weekend.  War museum is my favorite, so far.  They've got Hitler's limo...  quite the thing to see!
