Post by: dodge822 on October 14, 2009, 10:38:15 PM
can anyone here help, i would like to get more speed out of my laptop, it is old, so their probably isnt much, if anything i can do.

it is:
 toshiba satellite a30
  intel celeron cpu 2.50ghz
  2.50 ghz, 992 mb of ram (ddr 2x 512mb)
  and a 40 gig hdd (i think)

and i waould also like to format the hdd again, but i dont want to do it from my xp cd again, as i am finding old pathways to files that should have been wiped when the format was originaly done, when my uncle gave my the laptop a year ago, so i guess i want to do a nice deep format.

And try this: http://www.ccleaner.com/ (http://http://www.ccleaner.com/)

I'm using it for about 1 year now. It removes all cookies (you can also create a white list for your cookies: Like JoeCanuck, so it won't delete your cache password), temp files, clean your registry, etc. It can also remove all Windows remove patch (every time you make a Windows update, Window also include a uninstall program to remove the patch. I saved 1.5 gig removing those uninstall patch!).

The registry cleaner is more efficient than my Norton Systems Works!

Oh, and it is free!

Let me know!

I use this on a lot of our big name accounts (Lawyers, and the like). It will get rid of a lot of those hacks like "Anti-virus 2010" and cleans your malware. Sometimes you might need to run the scan externally on you HDD, meaning slave the infect HDD to a healthy PC and run malware bytes from there.

This will help speed up for PC if it has too much malware, etc...
