So, wave 3 Alpha vehicles look to be on hold.
I read up on theterrordrome.com about this.
Supposedly a site that I refuse to acknowledge is reporting that wave 3 is either cancelled or on hold. Supposedly GIJCC sent out an email cancelling orders for wave 3 Alpha vehicles.
I get the feeling from reading elsewhere that it is on hold until 2010, and it may end up being like wave 5 (Stinger, etc). Considering most of them are not a big deal to me I won't mind, but if you are absolutely desperate, then maybe you need to get on Ebay and find some now.
Most of the talk seems to indicate that Hasbro is going to scale back ROC/JOE in 2010 because of excess product currently on shelves.

bummer
that wave looked pretty OK to me
I wish the ROC line was more successful but there was just too much product and the prices have been somewhat high, at least to me.
-
typical of hasbro pushing too much of one wave of product and saturating the market.
I agree with canprime this wave may turn out to be another stinger/arctic hiss wave.
-
What was in this wave?
-
If I recall correctly it had the cool looking submarine, and a retooled Ferret in Joe Colours.
-
What was in this wave?
The Ferret retool with Leatherneck, the desert Rockslide with Dusty, the Lava Pod and the ROC SHARC.
I think this is a good thing for me. Moreso because with school, I have less money to spend on toys. Revenge Of The Fallen I find easy to pass up (much as I like the film, the toys for the most part do very little to excite me), but Rise Of Cobra is more difficult... the wider the gap between releases, the better.

Curses. I could have had a Mole Pod for 1/2 price but held out because I was waiting for the Lava Pod.

As someone who has one let me just say that 1/2 price is still too much for that piece of crap.
I am disappointed though...I really wanted the Polar SHARC and I was looking forward to the new Leatherneck. I bet if Hasbro dropped the price...$9.99 anyone?.ALSales of the vehicles would take off! Look how many Joes TRU has sold during its sales...those shelves were stripped bare bc the prices were reasonable!
-
Psh, the Mole Pod may not be worth TRU's 24.99$ price tag but it's perfectly worth the 19.99$ or lower price tag.
But in any case, with wave 2 of Alpha vehicles being out in TRUs, this is the perfect time for a vehicle sale. And not a "buy one get one half price" thing like they just had... a legit sale on individual items is what's needed!

I disagree. The mole pod is not worth $19.99. This is how I would price this stuff:
Figures - $7.99
Alpha - $14.99
Bravo - $22.99 (good call Walmart)
Night Raven - $29.99
Mobile Pit - $79.99
That's what I think these things are worth, and then you can throw on the odd sale here or there to drop the prices.

Those prices are almost EXACTLY how the RoC stuff is priced in US dollars.
I would do:
Figs: $5.99-6.99
Alpha: $9.99-10.99
Bravo: $15.99-19.99
Echo: $29.99
PIT: $69.99 (which is what it was going for in online sales with free shipping)
Basically I think Hasbro is at least a dollar too high on figs and $5 too high on the vehicles. It shows, too: I bought just about every 25th figure, with the exception of the last wave because I never really saw it, I had way too many Ninjas already (Ninja Viper) and I didn't like the Dreadnok repaints enough to pick them up. And whereas in the past I would have eagerly snapped up everything, I have passed on a few vehicles and plenty of figures, with fewer and fewer of the figures coming out being absolute buys for me. If they were priced lower, I'd be much more inclined to just buy everything.
-
Don't forget that Hasbro doesn't set the retail prices. They sell wholesale and then the retailer marks up the price to what they feel is worth asking.
-
and then some also have pst tax added. BOO!

Yet the Canadian dollar and US dollar are almost par again yet we get the huge mark up price once again.

Which means that both Canada and the US wish their prices were just a bit lower. Maybe it isn't that Hasbro is too high as much as we just wish things were cheaper.

Hope to see that Dusty at some point.

I'd rather see a Pursuit Of Cobra-style Dusty, myself.
Heck, his name was on that slideshow introducing POC for the desert part. They have the name registered. Recondo's being made for the jungle one and Beachhead is being made for the urban one. Hasbro has no excuse not to make a new, POCtastic Dusty.
