Title: MC Convention not generating much of a buzz this year?

Is it me or is there a lot less talk about the Master Collectors groups G.I. Joe convention this year? It just doesn't seem to be making a big stir this year and it's only a few days away.

I search the NET daily for News and Rumors (I love working for a Television Station), the chatter is low on this... I guess this is not normal?

Last year, everybody was talking about the Red Shadow set in the o-ring mold... but it wasn't that we were getting.

This year we are getting it in the "right"  :wink: o-ring mold, but it is true, we are not getting the big hype expected. Is it because the current economy? Canada is one exception in the world about its economy. The crisis hit us for sure, but not as bad as in the US.

Also, just about the set itself, I like it. But, 12 figs are based on only 2 molds. Even the Para-drop Flint is a repaint of the current Flint in the box. For an exclusive set, I am expecting a little bit more to justify $15 or more + shipping for a fig. You?

Too early.
Many people can't attend for many reasons because of the early date.
Must be why it seems so quiet.

I agree that FCBD - while featuring a new Joe comic (#155.5!) - is likely to blame.  I woulda given show attendence some serious consideration but already had commitments to two comic stores for FCDB (as a special guest) and I wouldn't back out on commitments.

What is it that you do that would make you a special guest? I honestly don't know.
