I saw the thing in Wal-Mart today and it looks pretty freaking awesome. I know it's HUGE! I was just wondering if anybody had one yet, and if so if it's worth the hefty, hefty price.
I got out of Star Wars a long time ago when they started flooding the shelves with every variation of every character that even got a millisecond of screen time. However, between the AT-AT and the classic style ESB carded Vader, I might actually have to make a few Star Wars purchases.
-
Don't collect Star Wars.
No desire to collect Star Wars.
But man-o-man, that thing is EPIC.
I'd love to get one, but I haven't the space for it, and as I don't have any other SW stuff right now, I'd be way to tempted to paint it into Cobra or Red Shadow colors.
however it they don't move fast enough for TRU and they are put to clear... maybe.....
-
I don't collect Star Wars too but I need that piece..
-
I've got mine yesterday and i opened it. It's BIG. It's a great playset and a must for the fan or collectors.
I'm just starting to collect Starwars and i love this remake. I passed too much time playing with my original one when i was kid so, i bought it whatever the price.
I think i will buy another one when Hasbro will release it again with a vintage style box.
-
You're starting a SW collection? Hope you're not a completist.. ;D
Where did you find it btw?
-
I've seen it twice now and looked over it thoroughly and I'm SO TEMPTED. Gaaahhhh it's so badass and I always wanted one as a kid but gaaaaaahhhh it's $89. And I don't have a Star Wars collection, nor do I want one other than that new Vader.

Olyeller....hear me....hear me! Don't give in to the Dark Side of buying. That leads to buying crap, and buying crap leads to collecting a shitload of more crap and making Lucas richer so that he can continue force shoving more crap at us.
Get a Flagg instead!

+1 for that... Star Wars Fan you are me thinks....

I bought it at BBTS, and yeah, i paid a lot of shipping.
I just started a small Starwars collection of some good remakes i had when i was just a kid.......i said exactly the same thing when i restarted to collect Gijoe ;)

Meeza no Star Wars fan Okeeday? I can still walk between the Joeverse and the Starverse as I please. But don't be fooled - I'm 100% devoted to collecting Joes now.
-
When/where are they planning on releasing the AT-AT in the Vintage style box?

If I could get a Flagg for $100 or even $200 I'd be ALLLL over it.
And I see what you mean with the slippery slope of buying crap. After considering the AT-AT I started looking across the 'Net at other Star Wars crap. Getting into that again is the LAST thing I need.

Getting into that crap will have your credit card max out, and then it's going to take you another 10 years to pay back your debt before you can start to save for a FLAGG.
"To know of the existence of a trap is the start of learning to avoid it." And this is not a quote from Star Wars.

Well its not about more crap merchandising...
If we buy Star wars toys... we will give lucas money to make another gay star wars spinoff .....
The original trilogy : The iconic good vs evil some good story and awesome vehicles
The prequels: Jar Jar , natalie portman wearing weird junk , emo christensen , and all that jedi crap nobody but 5 year olds like

I've finally ran across one of these at the local Walmart, and it's impressive. This and the new Snowspeeder are very tempting (Empire Strikes Back is my favorite movie) and possibly the best versions they'll ever make. I'll pass though, I just don't have the same passion for any Star Wars toys that I have for G.I. Joes.
-
I saw this at the TRU at Markville Mall. They wanted $129.99 for it

Keep that money for more Neo-Vipers man.. ;D

Same price as Sears (and you get Sears Club points... Ok I just revealed my age
)

What was REALLY sweet was TRU here has it in a vintage-style box that just looks wonderful. But for $109 I think I'll save the $20 and get it at Target. Eventually, anyway.

That's over 43 Neo-Vipers! What would you do with all those Vipers!
-
I saw it at Walmart last night. I have always wanted an AT-AT, but I declined. It would look sweet with a bunch of Snow Serpents jumping out of it.
But I am still kicking myself that I never picked up the Millenium Falcon (favorite Star Wars vehicle of all time)
-
I still want the BMF too. I looked for a discounted Turbo Tank for my kids with no luck.
I actually had the AT-AT in my cart yesterday at WM. I was hoping they would honour the Zellers 30% promo, but I knew they don't honour promos with percentages - but I had to try.
Don't forget - Sears always has 10% off coupons at their pick-up centres.
-
Love the falcon (my son does too).
I have had the AT-AT in the cart twice, but both times realized it is more of a christmas present than a "hey we should buy something cool" item.
Can't wait till Dec. 25th!
-
Wait...so the one at WM in the blue box with the snow speeder is the EXACT same one that is in the vintage style box at TRU?
Thought the TRU one was more like the original AT-AT and the WM one was the updated version similer to the Falcon from a few years back.

You mean the white speeder bike, right? The AT-AT doesn't come with a snowspeeder.
Anyways, the blue boxed AT-AT and the vintage boxed AT-AT are the same... sort of. In Canada, the blue boxed one has a changed sound chip removing all the phrases (english) and adding a few more sound effects. The vintage boxed one is exactly the same as the one in the US, with english phrases intact. But otherwise they are the exact same big honkin AT-AT.
-
Well that's good to know. If I was going to buy one, I know which one it would be now. Vintage style box = win.

Yep, same here!

Lol..yeah sorry your right...(would be an even better extra tho ;D )
And now I know which one to buy as well, thanks. I try not to buy a lot of SW stuff cuz it's just way WAY to expansive, but no way I can pass up this (or the recent Falcon)
-
Let me know if they remake that Hoth battle scene with the blow apart bridge and I'll buy that. Cobra North needs some stomping grounds. ;D
-
I had this in the cart today...but I'd spent 150 earlier getting all the Target exclusive ESB stuff at Zellers. The guilt of buying this too would have kept me from enjoying it. I told my wife I need it, but it isn't something I can buy for myself in good conscience. Hopefully the ESB box version will come down in price sometime before xmas. I'd love to get that as a present. The last AT-AT I bought was like seven dollars at a garage sale, and I loved it more than pretty much anything I've ever found at one of those sales. I remember playing with it in the front yard and getting lots of compliments on it (this was in 1989 so no one had seen one in a while I guess!).
-

Finally an AT-AT I really want for the packaging as well. However the price is restrictive. I will pick one up when there is finally a sale and it drops below $100 before tax. $130 before tax is too rich for my blood.
-
I like the Star Wars boxes they're using lately, the stuff goes right back in for storage and the boxes look great, especially the Vintage themed. It took me a while to decide but I think I'll insist on the vintage collection box when I get one.
-
Ugh, I gave in. Bought it. Quite possibly the best toy I've got since the 1988 Lego Monorail came out. This thing is just amazing. I am sort of in awe of it. If I get a chance to get it on clearance or sale in the Empire box I will definitely buy another. This thing is a legend. Is this an all new version? I haven't collected SW vehicles since just before Ep I came out so I missed hundreds of things I imagine. I really wish I'd snagged a MF at Winners though, I was just fighting every urge in my body to collect SW stuff again. Too late now.

Saw this at Costco on Friday for $95.00
Was really tempted but I passed.
-
What box version was at Costco?
I really want to pick up the vintage version.

When it comes to Star Wars toys, I have no temptation. Not interested at all. Plus I am going through my Joe collection to cut it down for the man cave.

Not for me, for my son.
I'm not personally interested.

Dalton is still too young for Star Wars movies, so I'm not in that boat yet. Give me a year and maybe.
This Christmas he's getting a computer and Hot Wheels and I was thinking about buying him one of the G.I.Joe mechs. I don't want one but he might get a kick out of it. It looks big and chunky so a 4 year old should be OK with it.

Blue Box AT-AT
[/quote]
Thanks, I gave up on Star Wars years ago, but my son is all over it. That AT-AT would be for him, but christmas 1982 I got that exact same packaging when I was a kid.
-
Went to a TRU and saw the vintage-style boxes, and it brought me right back to my childhood. I can finally see what SW fans are raving about! Still not tempted to get one (for the size and features, it's worth the price), but I do hope they're all bought by true fans and not snapped up by dealers and speculators.
-
US Walmart I just went to had AT-ATs on clearence for 49.99, Jabba exclusive for 9.50 and exclusive Tie bombers on for 17.00

Wow, that is a great price!
-
Yeah. For that price I would pick up an AT AT. No Idea where I would store it, but I would buy it.
-
Is it possible to find the AT-AT with the vintage box art here in Canada??
-
Vintage Box was a ToysRus exclusive, I got my sons in Vintage box at TRU in the states before christmas on sale for $99
-
Thx akpayne.. I didn't know it was a TRU exclusive! The only one I can find at my local TRU is the newer box.. too bad!
-

HA! I got one here for only $94!!! YAY!!!! I can't wait to not open mine!! Wait what? Aw man, now I have to hope the regular boxed version goes on sale.... >:(
Seriously though my nephew got one for Christmas and it is beyond impressive!!! Thankfully that will tide me over until a hopefully well reduced price comes along. The vintage boxed vehicles are great!!!
Take the hint Hasbro when it comes to Joe vehicles!!
-
I didn't get the vintage box version, I just got the regular box one, but man what a beast! This thing is probably one of the best things Hasbro has ever put out. I was a little disappointed that the ladder was missing from mine, and the speeder bike was a little disappointing with the soft bendy plastic, but those are only minor complaints, and I have contacted Hasbro to get a replacement ladder. I did manage to score an AT AT commander in the vintage style packaging, and my local Zellers has the Snowspeeder in the vintage packaging, so I will probably try to score one of those. Now my only problem is trying to find a few Snowtroopers to fit it out. :)
-
I have only been able to find 1 snow trooper - but I did pick up the Zellers snow speeder and Defence of Hoth playset (not worth the $45 - but still fun).
I am hoping the attack on Hoth At-St goes on sale at Zellers as it comes with 2 Snow Troopers, I just don't want to spend another $45-$50.
This with the Falcon are the best playsets Hasbro has ever done for Star Wars.
-
Actually I think both hoth playsets were pretty good value at $45. three figures and a couple big guns or the AT-ST? I'd say it was priced about as expected. They did go on sale back in oct or nov. for 25 or 30 % off, so that was a great deal. I haven't seen them in stores since. I'd say grab em if you see em and hope they go on sale after that and get the receipt adjusted. Hasbro has put out some awsome stuff in the last little while, and most of it has come out here and for reasonable-great prices when factoring in sales. Been a good time to be a SW fan.
-
Got this in the vintage box for my birthday, haven't taken it out yet tho. Aslo got the vintage boxed snowspeeder.
-
My girlfriend actually got me the AT-AT for Christmas, and yes, that bad boy is beyond impressive. She bought it and put it together for me when I was at work. I came home, opened the door, walked in, and my jaw dropped. That thing's as tall as the arm on my recliner! I'm gonna have to do an off-topic review of it...
-

I saw 25-30 of them clogging the shelves at the TRU in Brossard for 129.99$

Must be a local sale only, nothing in the flyer.

Did it have the sign that said $50 or it just scanned for $50 when you bought it? I will check mine tomorrow.
-
^^^ It was way up on a top shelf with no prices (not in the main action figure section).
-
My walmart had a sign for $100 not to long ago. Either way it is worth the time to find it and scan it to make sure. At $50, I will slap a COBRA sticker on it so fast, the Joes will not know what hit them!

Dude if you do that the Joes will run for the freaking hills! Believe it or not that's how massive that SOB is. It makes the TerrorDrome look small. It comes up to the arm on my recliner. Just look: (http://http://i635.photobucket.com/albums/uu71/olyeller01/070.jpg)

OMG!!!! That is HUGE! :o How many Figs can it hold?
-
I think it holds something ridiculous like 19 or 20. Heck, it can very comfortably hold 4 just in the cockpit. I'm gonna do a review on it soon, just gotta get some free time.
-
Chrome it.
-
Anyone know where I can still find one for $50?
-
Chrome it.
At $25 a part, that would be expensive! :o

No problem, enjoy the AT-AT!

Looks like the arrangement I had with someone fell through, so if anyone sees one of these guys and wouldn't mind picking it, I would much appreciate it.
Likely too late now.... :'(

I saw a bunch of the in the States recently, I think at the Big K for about $79 or $89 US.
If I'm in the area I can get you one if you want.

Thanks gents.
Realboss - at $80, I'll take my chances with a sale at TRU or Zellers. But again, thank you!

No problem. I don't blame you. Also, I'm sure we'll see some pop up a lot cheaper than that around here in the near future.
