This had to be my favorite part of the Joe Con this year. The Zartan PSA was really damn funny along with so many of his stories.
Is this going to be posted on youtube at all?
Edit from Mike:
Now posted on youtube at this link: http://www.joecanuck.com/joe/board/http ... 602#p50602 (http://www.joecanuck.com/joe/board/http://joecanuck.com/board1//viewtopic.php?p=50602#p50602)

It will be, but first the audio needs to be augmented. Next year, we will be sure to mic the Q&As.

Even though GI Joe is a small part of the work Zack has done during his career, you could tell that he was genuinely happy to be there and was humbled by the affection that everyone still holds for the series and his character after all these years. He was a real class act.

Seconded, for sure. Heh, for as down to earth as he is I still couldn't help but stumble over my words just a bit. Maybe a little silly, but I definitely was a little starstruck ;) I'd absolutely love to see him back again at some point.
-
I wish I chatted with him more, but Im a shy guy so only managed a few sentances.
-
If Zach comes back... he will have 100+ requests for to record answering machine messages thanks to morgardee.... He is a super nice guy!
-
I missed the Zartan PSA / Q&A (my own fault), but talking to him was a tremendous honor and most of all great fun. I sure hope that he comes back so that those who didn't get a chance to see him will be entertained by his outgoing personality.

It really was a pleasure to meet Zach and hear him share his stories about working on the GI Joe cartoon. Zach IS Zartan to us fans. He created the voice and persona that we all associate with Mr. Z, and what a great job he did. It was so cool to hear him do the PSA. I wish I would have thought to get a recording. I strongly urge The Mike to consider booking more voice actors like Zach for future conventions. It's too bad Mary was unable to attend, but Zach easily picked up the slack and I honestly could have listened to him for hours more.
-
He's a really nice approachable man. The more people I meet that had something to do with the original cartoon the more I find out how humbled and appreciative they are by the whole experience and Joe fans in general.
Great celebrity choices for this years Con! And welcomed choices for years to follow.

i hope he comes back he was great to talk ot and hear the stories of how they all where on the "set" of joe. i hope mike can get more voice actors for next yr.

If The Mike says that Burgess Meredith will be attending, I'd still come to the Canadian Joe Con! ;D
-
Thatd be THE Joecon to go then cuz hes been dead for years lol

If he does, it will only be through a through a Ouija board as the poor man passed away in 1997............

Here's a short bio on Mr. Meredith:

I guess he was destined to have a part in the GIJoe mythos.

That would make it a zombie Joecon lol

I really enjoyed the special guests. It's one of the reasons why I stick around the convention for most of the day while at other shows I'm in and out in an hour or two.
One thing that was much needed during Zach's Q&A was a moderator. This was Zach's first show ever (good score guys!) so he didn't really know what to do. There were lots of great questions but also a lot of awkward silences between those questions. A moderator should be there to pick out questions but also have a bunch of questions ready to ask as well if the audience doesn't have any.
My favourite tidbit of info was the Cold Slither story. Great stuff.

I moderated the Larry Hama Q&A, which I really enjoyed and I think it helped keep that one moving, but it wasn't my idea. Agent Loop suggested it. Had the Larry Q&A come first, I definitely would have volunteered to do the same thing for Zach. As it stands, I sort of did moderate the Zach Q&A. I had several questions prepared but only asked them when I sensed a lull. The answers to a lot of my questions -the Zartan public service announcement, and the musical background question that lead to the Cold Slither story- are being sited as people's favourites.
In the future, I will definitely volunteer to moderate any panels that might need me.

Has the video been put on youtube yet?

Has the video been put on youtube yet?
Nope. Lack of spare time to edit it and fix the audio.
...and to be honest, I'm thinking only portions of it will be posted - not the entire segment. Same with Larry Hama and Mark Bellomo.
-
We've had audio problems with our vids a few times so I totally understand. I think the idea of using portions (ie. the absolute best parts) is a great idea as it's something we use in our interviews and coverage of events.
-
well when you get it up i bet it will rock cant wait but take your time.
-
any chance of getting Zach Hoffman back for the 2011 Convention?
:)

Zach was great to have and I'll be forever thankful that he agreed to attend the convention. His Q & A was wonderful, his attitude was great, and my personal conversations with him on the phone were something that I'm going to treasure for life.
But it's time for us to visit some of the other voices and talents behind G.I. Joe.
Don't worry... I'm sure you'll all like who I have in mind. ;)

:(
well are we destined to get Lady Jaye there next year then?
I'm hoping she'll be able to make this one...
too bad Burgess Meredith is so long dead now eh?

That's as far as I've gotten cleaning it up - and it's not that far when you consider he spoke for nearly an hour. :-
-

-

Just had a chance to watch the Q & A. Loved every minute of it!
I wasn't able to sit in on the original because I had a vendor table and my helper/wife ended up having a conference to attend at the other end of Toronto the same day. So I wasn't able to sneak away to watch.
