Title: My open rant to a figure stealing Jerk!
Post by: SnowHawk on December 29, 2010, 09:03:40 AM
The past 2 Christmas' I have given my son G.I. Joe.  This year I gave him a bunch of POC figures. I had bought 3 sets of Rip Attack vehicles to keep around for presents when they were on clearance in the spring.  The only one I had left was a Tiger Snake and I threw it in his stocking.  Christmas morning he is opening all his presents and Joes and he asked me where the Street Viper was.  I went through the packaging and it looked like the package was already opened.  The figure/accessory bag was missing.  So this vehicle, that was sitting on my shelf for months was missing the figure and the machine gun.  So I am mad about this.  I hope someone was really desperate to have a Street Viper to pull this kind of stunt.  I am trying to get my son interested in G.I. Joe and he was upset that he never got his figure.  The only bright side is that it happened to me, and I have a bunch of extra packaged Joes laying around so I gave him Wave 3 POC Snake Eyes to make it up to him.  But what if this happened to a "new" G.I. Joe fan?  I hope the parents would not figure all of us Joe collectors are figure stealing, accessory nabbing, part swapping scum bags  >:( (sorry kind of angry there).

Last year the same thing happened with the Steel Crusher I bought him.  The stickers were already applied to the Hummer and 2 of the missles were missing.

I don't want it to become buyer beware where I have to check the packaging before I purchase the toys.  But it may prevent future disappointment.  Thanks for reading this rant.  This situation made me mad and I wanted to get it off my chest.

Sadly, I have been screwed too many times, to not stand in the store and go over all of the figures/vehicles looking for signs the package has been tampered with.  Totally sucks that anyone would have to do this.  But what sucks more is that some people steal toys!  A loaf of bread if your hungry I can understand, but toys!

Karma will get them back.
Glad your son had a Joe-filled Christmas!

I think he did get a deal though.  Getting a Wave 3 POC Snake Eyes for a Street Viper, he got a better figure.  I would gladly give up one of my extras for him to have a good present.

Sorry to hear about that.  I'm so worried about repackers that I triple check the seals before I buy from a big box store.

I feel lucky that I've never had to go through that personally.

Stuff like that really makes me want to hit someone with a frying pan.

More like from the Looney Tunes cartoons, so the guys face expression is left on the pan!

I don't know. The frying pan just seems more violet then a base ball bat to me. Maybe more embarrassing?

Imagine hearing this from the figure stealing jerk as he checks into the E.R.:

"Dude took me out with a frying pan! A frying pan man. A freaking frying pan"

That to me say this guy must have had it coming.

+1 Timbit to Morg for his clever choice of accessory! (a frying pan is by no means a weapon, or so will the figure stealing jerk think this until Morg swings it for real  :))

These people are really sad.  I just saw at a local walmart a POC Jungle Ripcord that was opened, repacked with a dollar store figure, returned and placed back on the peg.  the left side shell was still loose.

I know of somebody buying the Iron Man deluxe set with the awesome Nick Fury figure,  then returned it with ROC Ripcord put in the box.  I just waited until it was available at TRU for $21 and bought the box set.  If you can't afford the hobby and have to steal the stuff, I think it is time to reconsider your hobby.

Seems sensible right?

Unfortunately, the folks doing this are not sensible.
They actually think themselves quite clever because they pay for just ONE figure, and then they "cagily" return what they don't want so they can buy up what they do want with the refund.
They acquire a collection, and hence pursue a hobby for the cost of next to nothing.

And of course its wrong, and sooner or later they slip up and get caught.

( there's several legitimate ways to zero-cost a toy collection, and they take far less work and a LOT less guilt than swapping--but do these dummies ever think of that?  Nope, that is why they are stupid crooks)

Sucks that people repackage.  Funny that I have that figure and gun in bag given to me by a friend due to he knew his kids would just lose it and such and gave them to me since I like joes.
