Title: Chrome Firebat V2 now on Ebay.
Post by: morgardee on February 21, 2011, 12:31:05 PM
Here we go again:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... _483wt_951 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200578882626#ht_483wt_951)

It's a 2009 Sky Sweeper Jet done at the same place that made the HATE tanks, red tinted windshield and mostly Firebat stickers on it, making it an upgrade for Cobra.

It's really cool looking in person. Factory quality production again.

At first I didn't see that this was a Sky Sweeper, even though you mention it. In Chrome it looks different from the Sweeper jet: It is awesome!

I'm with you on this. Mike/Morg what have you chromed? And, have you tried some figs/vehicles that turnout out to be a bad choice? I don't mean because it looked bad, more because chrome (or painting) some parts were less appropriate?

IMO nothing looks bad in chrome. Chrome makes everything look better. I was skeptical first about seeing a Snake in chrome, because I was afraid that the amount of details would not allow for appreciation of the chrome. But seeing it made me a believer. Even a Silver Mirage in chrome would look awesome, but as it was explained before, it proved too difficult and costly to execute, although not impossible but perhaps not worthwhile.

Man, you can't stop there... tell me more!!!!

The S.N.A.K.E. and the Firebat are two winners IMO.

I can see the upper deck of the Hydrofoil being chromed, a flight pod and a Mobat.

The FANG would recall me the episode where Lifeline was getting a gold helicopter from is "girlfriend".

I know what he is talking about and it is killer. You guys will love it.

I think both Mike and I are holding back one really cool piece each that you guys won't believe when we finally show them. I know I'm not going to sell my mystery vehicle. I'm thinking of saving it for the CJC and bringing it as a custom to display so everyone can see it in person.

As for the Steel Crusher, I thought about trying it but there was too much working against me to get that piece done, including rubber tires.

As for guessing on my "water craft", I'm not saying a word until it's time to reveal it. A guy has to have some fun, right?

I'd be fine if each of my chromed items sold at $122.00. Including the Skystriker when it sold.

He's more than made his money back on the Snake, trust me. ;)

True, but if each individual piece is $25 to chrome, the Sky Sweeper/Firebat is at least $100 to chrome so there is a chance of a loss on this auction.  Which, while offset by the SNAKE auction, is still a bit of a downer.

NO. Each ITEM is roughly $25.00 to chrome when figured all out. Not each part.

So, the SNAKE cost $25, the Skystriker cost $25, this cost $25.00, etc etc etc.

Yeah it was my impression as well.  At $25 per vehicle it is definitely worth doing.

It's a bit muddy here. I'm use to calling laptops, computers, printer "units" when working on them as I repair so many. Example "One site to look at poor print quality. Replaced units fuser. Tested on / off line. Looks fine." is a usual service report from me.

So Mike is correct. The Sky Sweeper is one part (or unit). The windshield was removed but the entire plane what chromed in one sitting.

Mike's jet on the other hand was broken down to individual pieces due to the size of it, so that was something like 3 or 4 different units.

Small or medium size jobs like the Chrome Firebat V2 was one piece so my cost to produce this was just over $40.00 (not counting paint, dye, time or stickers).

I was hoping to break $200 on this one but grouped together with the SNAKE I'm happy.

I think I'm going to sit on the last couple of pieces for now. With the MC con in a month I feel most Joe collectors will be saving for that event now.

The problem is finding someone to do it. The factory Mike and I use we can't going knocking on the door whenever we like. Aside from the convention stuff like the HATE and the Hailstorm there has only been one other time we placed an order and that was because Mike and I wanted to see what certain things would look like if they were done. It's difficult to arrange and expensive.

So these were all prototypes of what could've been? Prior to the H.A.T.E. or after the H.A.T.E. ?

Like most things, once the novelty wears off, there is diminishing returns.  However if you are doing it just for you, then Chrome-away!!!

Personally I would use Photoshop to get an idea of what something looks like chromed before thinking about actually getting something chromed.

Although the thought of a blinged-out Mauler is tempeting.....

??? I was referring to the number 7 that I outlined in red from your quote. One chromed Snake for every day, for every mood of the week. I should've picked up quickly that Queen's song also has the words "too much" and "kill" in it which is what could've caught anyone's attention. I'm sorry, I recognize I chose the wrong words. Please accept this Timbit  :)

Anyhow, if someone wants to chrome an entire corps of Snakes and can do it, then he should go the distance. Speaking for myself, I know I would become financially broke if I had to chrome anything I wanted. So that's where too much of it would kill me, because I would have 7 Snakes to look at everyday and cry when I turn around to see I have no joe money for the next two or three months

NO. Absolutely not. These are items that were done "because we could" because something else was getting done (The sample Firebat that the CJC ebay account sold).

None of these items are to be considered prototypes for the Convention items. NONE.

Also - Each ITEM (full vehicle) was a cost of roughly $25.00 when broken down. My Fisto fist, $25.00. My Skystriker, $25.00. Morg's snake - $25.00.

Now, if I said my Fisto Fist was $5.00, then the Skystriker would of been $45.00. Does this make sense now?

Ah....got you Mike (wink wink).

So let's see what letters were capitalized in Mike's post.  Then we just have to rearrange them into the right order to reveal the next chromed CJC exclusive.  AHA!!!

Ok, no more drinking on the job.
