Title: Is a 1997 A-10 Thunderbolt really worth $$$$
Post by: condor knight on February 23, 2011, 05:41:37 PM
I was wondering if an A-10 thunderbolt is really worth 650.00 or 550.00 even if they are AFA?

Here is the links:

Completed ebay listings would suggest the 3 pack is worth about $50.00

While the A-10 is worth over $100.... it has been for awhile, actually....

But 650?? - that's what I like to call the "I need more crack, because I clearly used up my stash when I listed this" price.

Supply and demand, I guess.  That and scalping.
In all honesty, I have no idea how much those are worth.  But I do expect that the fact that they're sealed and/or graded drove the prices up.

The A-10 is one of those rare oddities.  I have seen it go for over $100 a few times, but I have seen just as many that didn't sell with a starting price at, or around, $100.

It is definitely a seller when MISB, but I think that Joe sellers, specifically commercial (not collector) tend to overprice.

so if i have one MISB and put a price of 99.99 on it would that mean i am over pricing it?    ;D

Supply and demand, I guess.  That and scalping.

The term "scalping" pertains to new items.
Older items is a "what you will pay" market. No scalping involved as these items are no longer easily available recently.

I have a MIB A-10 for sale/trade for less than $100  :shifty:

I no longer pay attention to prices because the market goes up and down all he time. Buy what you like for a price you are comfortable with, then enjoy [s:a52ypm8m]playing[/s:a52ypm8m] displaying your collection.

Right, good point.  Sorry, I worded that badly. :-

Words to live by.  If you don't want to pay it, don't.  No need to complain about the price.

Agreed.  Once I have something in my possession, I could care less what the market value is worth.

The A10 when it initially came out in Canada was $49.99 at TRU.  I held back because I felt that was a mistake as it was I believe $19.99 in the US.  Sure enough after Christmas, it dropped down to $29.99 which made sense at the time with the Canadian dollar vs the US one.  I bought it when it dropped to $29.99.

I like the paint scheme and stuff, but I hated the white background stickers and the fact that the rear landing gear wouldn't stay up.  Not to mention that the helmet that came with Hawk did not fit and they used the wrong type of plastic for Aces helmet and mask.

Yep, I should have kept all that low quality 1997 stuff and waited 14 years  ;D I hated those stickers too.

Never thought any of it would be worth anything so I traded it all off a while ago. Of course, I've done that with many things toy-related...
