"They" have officially released 2 images of the up coming 8 new figures in this year's Con set, yet we do not have their names. I want know if we can guess thier names before they let us know. I think this will be a fun exersice and will help us as we wait to get more info!
Lets begin with our newest member of Cobra North: NAME is Captain Ruin
(http://http://i821.photobucket.com/albums/zz140/bandonov/Kermit.jpg) (http://http://www.joecanuck.com/2011/ruin1.jpg)
Lets not forget about our newest Canucklehead:
Sundance was kind in letting us know the 6 members of the Canuckleheads are Moose Jaw, Powder Keg, Line Dance, Quick-Synch, Deke and Pulse Pounder. Could this figure be one of them or a new member? Lets guess now and see if we came close or were we out to lunch.
-
It would be cool to guess the parts used also..
-
here is my guess:
Cobra north:
Cold Chill
Canucklehead:
Red Maple

You want to guess the parts used from Jason's Art Work? Now that is a Challenge!

Cobra North:
Dr. Andonov
Canucklehead:
Popsicle Bill

In all seriousness here are some ideas.
Cobra North guy: It's actually Shiver who this time disguises himself as the "new guy" hired by Black Ice to hunt down the traitor SnakeByte. Afraid that he might get immediately recognized this time by Hazzard, he dones a discreet beard and new pair of fashionable goggles to deceive the pathetic fool, again, and infiltrate Cobra North, once again.
Canucklehead guy: his name is not important. He dies at the beginning of the issue. That's why they colored him red/Maple. Haven't you guys watched the original Start Trek TV shows? :P
-
Canuckleheads have "Red Shirts" now? wow, those will be some great Comics from Jason!
-
Cobra North:
Dr. Andonov
It is Dr. Evil Andonov, if you mind...

Yeah, I'm -1000% affiliated with the CJC, so my ideas are pretty much unofficial. But pretending to know the stories ahead of time can be fun too don't you think?

Shhhh! That was a preemptive Shhh before you even post something else ::)

I gave you +1 for the Dr. Evil pic... mu-ha!

cobra north: four-eyes
canuck: bruiser
-
Ill guess "Hypothermia" or "Snow Blind" for the Cobra
"Ice Shade" for the Canuck

.
My Parts deduction:
Cobra: Head is either custom or Short-fuse/Doc, most likely custom as Doc and Shortfuse aren't plenty-full, Torso can be anything but the vest is FireFly's/Shockwaves/Arctic Scrap Iron. Legs are arctic SE or Snow Serpents (most likely snow serpent), dyed black. Weapon is CP FFs/Scrap-iron/cobra diver, and since FFs vest is there as well, at first leads me to believe the FF/SS Comic pack was used, but it makes more sense the Arctic 7 pack was used as Scrap Iron had the vest and SMG as well, and we see Snow Serpent Parts as well. After this assumption the Arms look exactly like Arctic Scrap Irons down to the logo, hands/gloves looks to be swapped though, possibly from the Arctic Televiper.
edit: The boots look closer to the Arctic Televiper so Im going with that
Canuck: Torso looks to be Snow Serpent/Arctic Tele-viper most likely Tele as there is a hood, hands most likely Scrap-irons since Tele-viper was used for the Cobra, might even be a shaved down Televiper head. Head I believe is Scrap Irons or Tripwires, or a custom helm. Legs look to be Arctic Heavy Viper/Copperhead, going with the Arctic 7 pack assumption it should be the Heavy Viper. Parts look like they will be dyed red.
So my guess (subject to change as we get more teasers ;) )
7 Arctic Pack will be used as a lot of the base of this set
Cobra:
Head: Custom
Vest, Torso and Arms: Arctic Scrap Iron
Gloves: Arctic Tele-viper's Gloves
Legs: Arctic Tele-viper's dyed black
Weapon: Arctic Scrap Iron's SMG
Canuck:
Head: Scrap Iron Dyed red
Arms and Torso and hood - Arctic Tele-Viper's dyed red
Hands: Arctic Scrap Iron's
Legs - Arctic Heavy Viper dyed red
agree or disagree?
-
Wow, Neo! +1
I thought 5h4rK was joking around, but you just blew my mind on how you deciphered the parts used by just looking at Jason's artwork!

I know its sad of me lol. Its from doing all those customs, looking or thinking of an image figure and then putting it all together using parts and custom made parts. Except this one was easier since they had to be from available parts (though custom parts are available) :)

All I can say is WOW! Even if you are wrong, you definitely know your Joes. Great job!

Here's my completely random ideas for these guys.
The Cobra dude is named Prairie Dog. Born in Regina, He grew up down the street from Moose Jaw and suffered thru all of his insults and bad jokes from Kindergarten to High School, from the sand box to Junior Hockey try-outs. Growing up to see the kid he hated taking the step towards the military, "Reggie" as MJ would call him, took the other route becoming a drug runner, smuggling over the border where Saskatchewan meets Montana. While on his way to a tunnel he constructed near Regway SK, he observed his childhood nemesis and the other Canuckleheads preparing to intercept an Arbco container truck that would be crossing the border. His interest in the Ranger was observed by Black Ice, himself there ensure the truck got into the hands of Cobra North. Seeing the potential in one not only with the skills for getting items across the border but also in the apparent hated for a member of the Joe team, Black Ice hired Prairie dog on the spot.
The Joe is Bobsled. Growing up in a small isolated town like Arviat in what is now Nunuvat, can lead a one to constant daydreaming. Jeff Baxter was the son of RCMP Officer posted to the remote town and thought the Olympics would be his way out, spending days envisioning himself sliding down a mountain at top speed. As he got older and realized that the IOC wasn't about to knock on their door, he looked to his Father's public service and took the steps to join the Canadian forces. Now as a member of the Canucklehead team he reached his goal of shooting down mountains. In his dream it was in a bobsled chasing the gold, In reality he's in a Snowcat chasing Cobra North operatives.

Thanks Bandonov. it was a slow day earlier and the basics for each of them only took a couple minutes. Figured as I had the time to flesh them a bit better.

That really is good Editor. Really good work and well thought out. I like them both.

looks like it ain't a canuckleheads set then...
this is the third figure of 8. If they do Ice Queen, then they have 4 more figs to do some of the Canuckleheads...
-
i meant it's not a complete set of them. granted it could be 4-eyes, ICE Queen and mittens here, then pad-boy, moose, PK and PP...
-
Maybe they will kill off more of them in the comics, you never know....
-
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
interesting, looks to be Snow Serpent arms (and legs?), Heavy Viper vest, all from the Ice 7 pack, the head has me stumped, probably custom?

This is why I love reading Neo's posts. He picked out this new fig before anyone even guessed his name!

Head is from Slayer Design Studios, same as the Head from the Northern Guard

We have the artwork for the 4th Character....

Mike said his name is Mudslinger, but is it the truth?
EDIT: Mudslinger is in the Word Search of the Newsletter...
-
Winter Cobra Viper, with Snow Serpent Harness, and the head is a cast of Red Torch/Shadow Viper, I think :)

Mudslinger is my fave so far..

Everything you wanted to know about the coyote...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coyote (http://http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coyote)
The coyote (US: /ka??o?t?i/ or ka??o?t, UK: /k?????ti/ or k?????t; Canis latrans), also known as the American jackal or the prairie wolf,[2] is a species of canine found throughout North and Central America, ranging from Panama in the south, north through Mexico, the United States and Canada. It occurs as far north as Alaska and all but the northernmost portions of Canada.[3] There are currently 19 recognized subspecies, with 16 in Canada, Mexico and the United States, and 3 in Central America.[4] Unlike its cousin the Gray Wolf, which is Eurasian in origin, evolutionary theory suggests the coyote evolved in North America during the Pleistocene epoch 1.81 million years ago[5] alongside the Dire Wolf.[6] Unlike the wolf, the coyote's range has expanded in the wake of human civilization, and coyotes readily reproduce in metropolitan areas.[7][8]
The name coyote is borrowed from Mexican Spanish, ultimately derived from the Nahuatl word cóyotl.[9] Its scientific name, Canis latrans, means "barking dog" in Latin.[10] Preliminary genetic evidence, however, has shown that "coyotes" in some areas are, genetically speaking, 85-90 percent Canis latrans, and from ten to fifteen percent Canis lupus, along with some domestic dog DNA; this prompted one researcher to suggest, jokingly, that they be called "Canis soupus," as they are a "soup" (mixture) of canid species.[11]
Though coyotes have been observed to travel in large groups, they primarily hunt in pairs. Typical packs consist of six closely related adults, yearlings and young. Coyote packs are generally smaller than wolf packs and associations between individuals are less stable,[19] thus making their social behavior more in line with that of the dingo.[20] It has been theorized that this is due to an earlier expression of aggression, and the fact that coyotes reach their full growth in their first year, unlike wolves, which reach it in their second.[19] Common names of coyote groups are a band, a pack, or a rout.[21] Coyotes are primarily nocturnal, but can often be seen during daylight hours.[3] Coyotes were once essentially diurnal, but have adapted to more nocturnal behavior with pressure from humans (McClennen et al., 2001).
Coyotes are capable of digging their own burrows, though they often prefer the burrows of groundhogs or American badgers. Coyote territorial ranges can be as much as 19 kilometers in diameter around the den, and travel occurs along fixed trails.[3]
In areas where wolves have been exterminated, coyotes usually flourish. For example, as New England became increasingly settled and the resident wolves were eliminated, the coyote population increased, filling the empty biological niche. Coyotes appear better able than wolves to live among people.[22]
Coyotes have been known to live a maximum of 10 years in the wild and 18 years in captivity.[3] They seem to be better than dogs at observational learning.[17]

We have No. 6 available!
Canadian Joe’s first official member, Valkyrie.
does that mean she was a CanaJoe member before JC and Snowbank? or is Canadian Joe a new group that the Canuckleheads are seperate from?
i'm soooo confoozed!!! ???
-
What's to be confused about? The Canadian Joes have been around before the Canuckleheads. Simple as that.

No one is guessing the mold? ;D

I have a guess or two....
-
uh, a Scarlett figure?
so are the Canuckleheads Canadian Joes or not? are JC and Snowbank Canuckleheads or Canadian Joes? What's the difference between the two groups?
-
uh, a Scarlett figure?

http://www.joecanuck.com/w/index.php?ti ... uckleheads (http://www.joecanuck.com/w/index.php?title=Canuckleheads)
They are a sub-group.
-
oh...
i thought the two terms were interchangeable.
-
They work together.
The Canuckleheads are their own thing however, sometimes led by Snowbank, etc.
-
so Canada has TWO counter-Cobra teams?
or would you say that the Canuckleheads are more like a semi-independent force within Joe Canada, akin to Z Force and SAS Force operating semi-independently within Action Force?
-
I was going to say like Battle Force 2000 vs the Joe proper team.
You say tomato, I say tomato.
-
your toe-may-toe toe-mah-toe thing would work better with phonetic spellings: i just read that as toe-mah-toe, toe-mah-toe
-
uh, a Scarlett figure?
so are the Canuckleheads Canadian Joes or not? are JC and Snowbank Canuckleheads or Canadian Joes? What's the difference between the two groups?
Just joking on the mold. I didn't think there was a difference either. I guess I need to read more wiki!

Re-read this months news letter.
Okay... I will check again.
-
Okay... Now I that read the newsletter again, it will not be ICE Queen after all. I have corrected the review.
-
so where does the moosejaw figure fit in?
-
You guys keep guessing and debating.
When we do do the full set picture reveal, it will all become clear.
Just be sure to be back on the site come Monday for the HUNT THE CANUCK.
-
so where does the moosejaw figure fit in?
I guess it was used as a diversion? Remember it is Canuck so it could still be him or Pulse Pounder?
-
Actually I do have a Pic of him! I updated the Review Post!
If it is not him... Oh well
Sorry if you wanted to suprise us ;D ... but you did let take a pic of the comic at the Toronto Comic Con!
-
Yeah, I forgot the PP figure...
-
Hey Morg! Did you get the inspiration for the Coyote Troopers from GI Joe Renegades? They named there truck the Coyote!

Hey Morg! Did you get the inspiration for the Coyote Troopers from GI Joe Renegades? They named there truck the Coyote!
The Coyote Name was a vote among the planning staff, as were most of the decisions for the set this year.

Hey Morg! Did you get the inspiration for the Coyote Troopers from GI Joe Renegades? They named there truck the Coyote!
The Coyote Name was a vote among the planning staff, as were most of the decisions for the set this year.
And no, the Renegades cartoon didn't play a factor in it at all.
Let me put this question to you guys, is there enough interest in the CJC doing a Q & A near the end of the day? To be honest, the con itself is a very long day for the staff but if there was enough people interested in finding out how this all comes about then maybe we could to a half hour thing, but only if there is enough interest in it and if it works with Mike's schedule.
-
I would be most interested.
-
I think it might be better as a news article in the issue after the actual con IMHO.
-
i'd be interested, even if i'm not there, to read/see a Q&A abouot how it all goes on, putting a set together.
-
I also would be most interested, either after the con or an article.
-
I'm with Neo... An Article is better!
-
No article. We're not writing a step by step book for people on how to do a convention etc. Morg's post is what you guys should be focusing on. Would you be interested in a Q&A with Con staff at the end of the day?
-
If the Article is out of the question, Then yes I would be interested in the Q and A at the end of the CON.
-
100% agree with Mike. Besides, so many people involved in the project it would be a nightmare for one guy to write an article about.
-
I'm interested in a Q & A!
-
It is a long day...so to be honest I might not stay for it. I'd watch footage another time though! Or go Friday night after the early entry.
-
I'd attend the Q&A. I like that kind of stuff. Of course you could make the prize drawing be immediately after the Q&A and therefore force everyone to stay as a captive audience ... that's something Cobra Commander would do. ;D
-
I'll sit and listen.
-
To revive and refocus the thread, could our mysterious 3rd Joe be Joecanuck himself?
Shiver got the new sculpt treatment....
-
