The question is simple:
What is the Holy Grail of your collection? Your Flagg; the first fig you got as a kid; a very rare item...? Post a pic if possible and tell us why this item is the jewel of your collection!
-
i still want my holy grails: a complete WHALE, a complete Mauler and a complete Tomahawk. in fact, i'm pretty sure I'll never get them.
my crown jewel is probably my Skystriker. it's my crown jewel because it's in pretty good condition and is complete and it was my favourite toy as a kid. and still is.

Never say never..

*locks, loads, shoots bieber.*
-
My childhood Joes of course.
-
my holy grails are: the original 87 outback i got as a kid (he was my first joe)
then:

and lastly

just because it is the only one i have ever seen being a proto type
-
For a long time it was AVAC. Got one 8 years ago.
I don't think there is anything I'm really after right now.
I do need most of Night Force stuff and i love the figures from Europe but none of that is "Gotta have" for me. If it was, I would have the night force stuff by now.
There is only a few ARAH pieces I still need and I don't even remember what they are anymore. I guess once I took down my Joe room I sort of lodt the drive to complete the set.
-
I do need most of Night Force stuff...
Same here! I have 3 or 4 figures and 0 vehicules.. the originals were all superior IMO!
-
My childhood Joes of course.
You still have them? We want to see some pics......
-
Here's mine:

It's a MIB Rolling Thunder signed by Guy Cassaday, the original designer behind this beast!
-
when i was a kid, i lusted after the mobile command centre.
doesn't appeal to me at all today...
-
G1 Megatron
But I've got one now. :)
('85 Snake Eyes also, but I got one of those back in the 90's)
-
My 1964 painted black haired, hard-hand 12" GIJOE, I believe to be an Action Sailor-bought for $25 in 1984/5-ish.
The second isn't a Joe-item---its an original edition 1/43 scale Corgi Batmobile.
And the third is the POC wave 3 Snake-eyes. Hands-down my favourite small GIJOE type toy figure. Period. Nothing beats it, and I imagine nothing ever will.
If I had to pick a Joe vehicle..........the Night Attack Copter, sure, its modern, but I think its the best aerial vehicle in the entire line--its just captures my imagination more than anything else they have done.
-
...its just captures my imagination more than anything else they have done.
That's the most important thing! +1 to that..
-
My Holy Grail is this... One day... when I have a few thousand dollars to spend I will buy this...
The 1997 Pimp Daddy Destro!
-
Actually I would build a Time Machine and go back in time and buy lots of Joes and other toys... LOL!
-
The upcoming zarana sdcc might qualify. Considering the slaughter and dial tone madness, I'm thinking the zarana situation will be insane.
-
Actually I'm thinking of selling all my 25th, ME, RoC, PoC stuff.. I'm tired of all those pricey modern exclusives! I'd rather spend my money on the vintage stuff.. Stay tuned and visit the 5h4rK's b/s/t list often..
-
My grail is the Flagg.
And +1 for the 5h4rk shout-out to vintage goodness!

-
Mine would be the FLAGG... i hope to one day get one and share it with one of my other holy grails, my son! I had a defiant and sold it many years ago. and then i almost had another one the other night off the bay! but it slip away!
-
if all goes well i could have my other holy grails soon:
just working on the details
-
Flagg would be Awesome, but how many of you guys display it? That thing is Huge! I would love to own one but I have no Ideal where to display it.
-
The 2 pieces I hunted for and finally found was the Flagg and the Terror-Drome. They weren't in perfect condition, they do show their age. I have both of them displayed in my basement.
I found a guy on Kijiji who was selling his complete collection to buy an engagement ring for a girl he met on the internet. I paid $70 for the Flagg, and I paid $70 for the Terror-Drome. I bought 17 other pieces from him at the same time. He also threw in a copy of G.I. Joe #1, cause he had 2. I got Larry Hama to sign it last year at CJC.
It took me a couple weeks to clean everything up and restore it. When I finished unpacking the Flagg, I found a Mobile Command Center in the bottom of the box. I already had one, so I took the best pieces of each to make one mint condition MCC. I gave the left over one to my son for his collection.
The Flagg is sometimes a curse, because of where it is in my basement, my wife will walk and bump into it and I will have to set all the Joes up again. But I wouldn't get rid of it for anything.

I need the Walmart stuff from a year or two ago so if you are looking to unload them, let me know. The Cobra Bunker was one of them. I forget the rest.

G.I. Joe Movie The Rise of Cobra Exclusive Outpost Defender
I paid alot to secure my set... Hopeful you get a deal!

Yeah, those are the only ones that were hard to find and haven't showed up at ross/marshall's/tjmaxx (to my knowledge).

:o lucky guy! :P

For ages it was Star Duster and Steel Brigade Figures...finally got both over the last few Can Joe Cons. Grabbed a complete '84 Rattler last year too. I still have all my Joe stuff from when I was a kid, so now, it's just about getting the stuff that I wanted back then, but never got. A Flagg would be kewl, but getting a complete boxed Tactical Battle Platform a couple of years ago was awesome too (and easier to display)! Can't wait to see what i can pick up at this years con.
-
My holy grails were the things I never got as a kid...
The USS flagg, terror drome and defiant.
Now ive got them, but have no space for the flagg, so its boxed up in my closet.
I got the flagg off an old lady out in the country for $50.
(but had to pay $200 to complete it on Evilbay)
Still a pretty good deal.
-
Multiple Grails
Flagg, Terror Drome, completing my damaged Defiant as a launch vehicle for the Crusader, complete Defiant, Crusader, completing my incomplete MCC
other red flag items: a 3rd Defiant to be converted to Python scale, a Voltron Castle of Lions to be converted to a modern Silent Castle, the Star Wars Episode 1 Royal Starship as a Destro Aircraft.
Here's hoping I win the lottery someday
-
I had my main big HOLY GRAIL piece but parted with it, and that was a serious MISTAKE that I will never repeat again with my other holy grails. It was the Defiant, although I only had Payload minus the backpack. I will get this again one day...
My remaining Holy grails are:
Cobra Commander v.1.5 (it just ain't Cobra without the Commander w/Dome face plate)
Star Duster in loose C10 shape (seriously, already that this character is well sought, mine is in perfect shape)
Hammerhead w/ driver complete (I just love vehicles that can split up in several small vehicles, this is perhaps the culminating form of that type of vehicle IMO though not entirely perfect, but sure beats the crap out of 25th and later stuff out there in this specific category)
Cobra Bugg (I just think this is one of the vehicles that is best for the compact interior compartments concept combined with diversified playvalue. Plus that Bugg has one of the more curious and bulky forms but don't let that fool you: it is ingeniously worked around in the smaller details if you have a chance to hold one in your hands)
TerrorDrome (the ultimate Cobra piece IMO. Doesn't matter if you're an army builder or not, this is the ultimate "Barbie house" for your Cobra forces)
And especially,
1988 Light Foot (that figure means everything to me because it represents what I love so much in general: science fiction, military, primary colours, holographic effects...Madelman!!!!)

good question this, for me the holy grail is everything i have in the collection as i only collect from the era of my childhood which is what makes it for me.
i can go and forget i'm an adult with bills to pay and work hassle and be a child again it doesn't hurt anyone and it makes me happy, it also has opened new doors to meet people i would never of met and to be part of something world wide talking to you guys and finding out and seeing how different but yet universal our hobby is, for me that is the holy grail.
and the mint in box action force stuff is pretty cool too

Best reply so far! +1 to that!

Most of my prized items in my collection would be on the bottom shelf of this picture:
The big brown box is a BHT toy store made by a 6 year old customer of mine (11 now). He had to do a project on his favourite place in the entire world - and it turned out to be my place... not TRU or Disney. ;)
The guy in the case on the left is a custom headsculpt of me made by our own Loop about 8 years ago.
The rest of the items on that shelf hold special meanings for me as well and are things I'll never part with.
-
+1 for having a Max Headroom collectible as part of your Holy Grails.

Nice stuff Mike..do you have a close-up pic of that custom figure?
-
Which one? Me? The headsculpt Loop did?
Not currently. But I can get one later on if it crosses my mind. There's also a Doc Brown head on that shelf.
-
And there's the Frere tuck too from the Kevin Kostner Robin Hood movie. I know I have Robin Hood from that line (the one that was made using the body of Super Powers Green Arrow).
-
I know these are very common on U.S cards (Snakes is an 11 back), but being Canadian I want what was on the shelf when I was little and these are very scarce Canadian examples!

I was pleased to find that I still had my grails when I was sorting though my vintage collection. They are the straight arm original Scarlett, Snake Eyes, Cobra The Enemy, Short Fuse, Stalker, Breaker, Grunt, Flash and Clutch. I thought I had gotten rid of them a while back but it was the swivel arm versions. My favourite growing up was the Terror Drome but I gave it to my cousins many moons ago I was tired of hauling it around when I kept moving. Looking back that was dumb of me because I did have a storage unit at the time where all my other toys were.
None Joe grails are my four Centurion 8" figures: Jake Rockwell, Ace MaCloud, Max Ray, and Doc Terror.
-
This was also one of my Holy Grails... but thanks to a Super Nice Canucklehead, I have one of my own!

I always wanted one of those when I was a kid but they were way too expensive. I loved the whole line. Made by Tonka right?
And Mike I think the BHT store is awesome! Definitely priceless.

My Non-Joe Holy Grail would be Voltron! I had to find that one, even bought all the DVDs that release a few years ago.

I recently got a 1983 Viper glider (been waiting for someone to sell one within Canada for a long, long while). It's not mint, but at least its in one piece.
I'm still looking for a loose and complete 1983 die-cast MMS (I wouldn't mind getting Canadian carded versions of all the other die-cast vehicles - minus the HAL, which I'm happy to now have).

Mike, do you have a Rex Charger(red and beige figure)? They were produced in very limited quantities with the Indian and Drone figures Before the line was canceled. The only original I don't have is Hacker.
