Got this off one of the wrestling boards I visit:
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is currently in talks with Paramount to appear in the new G.I. Joe sequel, reports DeadlineHollywood.com. Johnson is discussing a role as Roadblock, who made an appearance in the first movie. Interestingly, former WWE superstar, Shad Gaspard auditioned for the movie as well.
-
when did Roadblock appear in ROC?
pretty sure he didn't...
Sgt Stone, Heavy Duty, Duke, Scarlett, Hawk, Cover Girl, Breaker, Snake Eyes, Ripcord... obvoius-Jinx-homage...
-
I guess they were referring to Heavy Duty. Unless he was in the Sub or the USS Flagg at the end of the movie.
Dwayne Johnson is not the first person I think of when it comes to Roadblock. But if they have to have a Star in the movie, I'm sure his fame will draw Non-Joe fans to see the movie.
-
I think he'll be fine and should be willing to take the roll. Remember that horrible "Doom" movie he made. Besides, Dwayne is working with the WWE so WWE would most like give his new movie a few plugs and the wrestling audience would defiantly help fill seats at the theaters.
Now if they can get Brendan Fraser as Sgt. Stone as well then maybe this movie might work.

The Rock is IN.
His Facebook Fan Page was just updated with this: "We've read your comments. We know what you want. "..and knowing is half the battle." It's on!"
Then a video played with the GI JOE logo.
-
...can't be worse than Marlon Wayans. I like the Rock. Never saw Doom, though.
Also, is that who Brendan Fraser was supposed to be - Lt. Stone? Was there a credit or was he named in dialogue?
-
His action figure which was modeled after Fraiser was called Stone, dont recall if he was actually named in the movie though.
-
he was named in dialogue when he road up on his bike.
"Yo, Sergeant Stone!"
by Heavy Duty.
and DooM was quite good, considering the source.

He is in the part where Duke is training against Snake Eyes. He also says " your going to need that" When Duke throws the safety helmet away.
The Rock as Roadblock.................. I am ok with that since he also does some voice acting.
-
It's funny that The Rock is going to star as Roadblock, and he was in two Stephen Sommers movies (Mummy and Scorpion King (Sommers produced)). Since Stephen Sommers isn't directing this one, I am surprised they would choose one of "his" guys.
-
I'm 100% behind them picking the Rock for Roadblock. Hell, he could play a Hiss Tank for all I care. The awareness of G.I. Joe "overall" will increase tremendously with having Dwayne Johnson attached.

^^^^This! I'm happy about that choice..
