Well, I 'finally' did it. Almost a year after JoeCanuck.com was started, I'm finally moving it into it's own 'home'.
Once it's moved, I'm going to be mixing up some of the Mods on the site.
No one is really posting in some of the provinces (yet), so I'll be ask some mods to 'take on' those sections as well. I'll also be relieving some folks from their 'mod duties'. Nothing personal, I just 'know' some folks on here better than others and I'd rather have folks "I Know" handling the site.
Those Mods will also be given joecanuck.com email addys if they wish.
The board will stay on my bountyhuntertoys.com server for now while I 'tweek' some things at the other one.
I'll try to give you guys a few days notice for when I move the board to the other server - that should be fun.
Also, it's not a requirement, but if anyone is interested in 'helping out' with the payment for hosting site, or if you think this site has helped out in your collecting, I set up a few 'donate' buttons through PayPal.
Click here to DONATE $2.00 via PayPal (http://https://www.paypal.com/xclick/business=toys2%40bountyhuntertoys.com&item_name=JoeCanuck.com-Donation&amount=2.00&no_note=1¤cy_code=CAD)
Click here to DONATE $5.00 via PayPal (http://https://www.paypal.com/xclick/business=toys2%40bountyhuntertoys.com&item_name=JoeCanuck.com-Donation&amount=5.00&no_note=1¤cy_code=CAD)
Click here to DONATE $10.00 via PayPal (http://https://www.paypal.com/xclick/business=toys2%40bountyhuntertoys.com&item_name=JoeCanuck.com-Donation&amount=10.00&no_note=1¤cy_code=CAD)
I don't plan on making any money from the JoeCanuck site, so the donate buttons won't always be there......... only when I renew the server for another year. :-)
Which by the way if anyone is curious, the site costs approx. $160.00 a year to host.
That's it. That's my big news for today.

Just so everyone knows, I'm moving the site today. So if the board is gone later on, just goto www.joecanuck.com (http://www.joecanuck.com) (bookmark THAT url), and then visit the new server.
Also, Thanks to the folks that helped out with some of the payment for the new site.
All TWO of you....... and I'm one of them.

Sorry man, but you KNOW I don't do paypal. I'll hook you up next time I'm in (when you have my bust for me??
)
-
I know Ed,
There's a few on here that I just 'KNOW' won't be helping out.
:-)
It's not like the money is going to 'break me'.
Once everything is settled, I plan on getting some sponsors for a price of roughly $5 - $10.00 a month.
The left over funds will be used for the Joe Meet.

There ya go daddy-o! I put my money where my mouth is. I figure I waste $10.00 on less important things so if it helps us G.I.Canuks, then it's a good cause.
Now give me a reciept so I can right it off as a taxable deduction!
Just kidding!!!
-
I rather send the cash in person as well. I am trying reduce the amount of paypal activity for now.
-
5-10 dollars a month? I could wing that and advertise whatever crap I feel like.
Time to start planning "Celebrate my teeth" month. I need a scanner.

Oh sweet lord what have I done.
-
Wait, I thought it was $2, 5, or 10 a year.
-
No no no.... for NOW I'm asking for folks help.
If I have no sponsors by next year, then I'll ask again - see:

Then I said this:

So if you wanted to sponsor the site and pay monthly (an advertising sponsor), that is where the month to month thing comes in.
Don't worry Dave... you won't be 'owing' money to the site. :-)

Are people having problems with paypal? I just used it and would like to know if I shouldn't be.
-
PayPal has really gotten it's act together in the last year or so.
You'll always hear about problems with it - but you never hear the good things.
Are you having a problem with it?
Mike

I use paypal quite a bit and never have had a problem, just wondering because I noticed a few postings stating that they don't use it.
-
I'm tired of waiting so I've re-opened the message board on my BHT space.
What I'm waiting for my hosting company to do is set up the new server to handle 'this' board. It's simple..... just not sure why it's not done.
Then, I need to import this board into the other server.
Ed? Got a clue how do to this?
Mike

Phpbb? MySQL back end? Linux server?
Wouldn't be the first time...
What's the hold up on their end?
-
Man, I never realized how often I check here until the board was down. Glad to see it's back even if it is on the wrong server. Thanks Mike.

You have a PM Ed.

Done and Done.
