As you may have seen on my vehicle sale list a looong time ago, I was going to use all the money I made selling toys for
microloans through kiva.org . For those that don't know, a microloan is a small loan made from person-to-person. In this case the loan is from me/us to someone in the third world trying to become a successful entreprenuer and increase the standard of living for themselves and their family.
Also, my friends and I take any change we find on the ground, mostly thrown away pennies, and see how much we can acquire and loan. The theory was that we throw pennies away, thinking them to be worthless - but to someone in the third world, they can add up and change their lives.
When they pay me back, I can re-loan the same pennies to someone else!Between the toys and the lost change, I've made
19 loans. 11 personally, and 8 through a school-based group I started. Unbelievable!!!!
Anyway, I thought you guys might want to see where your money has gone and who it has helped. Plus you got some great toys and I cleared some space in my house!
Hopefully some others will be inspired to pay it forward.
If you have a loan suggestion, let me know!! I'm open to ideas or locations that are personally relevant to us here on the boardThanks to:
