Bryce had asked me if I recieved my wave 3 figures yet and what I thought of them, so in stead of responding directly with him I thought I'd make this a topic.
I placed an order with the MC group a couple of weeks ago with the MC group after Bryce mentioned they have wave 3 in stock. I also bought a set of wave 2, cost me $72.00 (USD) total I think after shipping, maybe $74.00. Anyhow, they all showed up last Sunday at my door step and as requested they were shipped "as a gift" Thank you MC. You also have to love the holiday shipping, when you can get packages after normal hours and on weekends.
The figure are better than I thought. The negaive is always more fun than the possitive, so I'll start there.
Saw Viper, total repaint of roll bar and my guys right arm won't bend at the elbow. I tried hot water and everything and the joint is starting to break. Probably just a fluke so I don't expect them all to be like this. On the plus, the saw viper helmet looks good on a few of the faces so if you had more than one Grand Slam figure, that head with all the "stuble" on it looks good under the mask. The figure itself really isn't that bad looking.
Monkey Wrench, I thought I would have a big problem with this guy as I LOVE dreadnoks but never cared that much for Burn Out and this was made using his body. I thought if I at least replaced the arms he would look better, WRONG! I've never been able to get his body sealed back together the same for some reason. There is always a gap across the top of him and I've tried different screws and put the original arms back but nothing works. The arms I tried BTW were the Gung Ho arms from the Gung Ho / Viper pack (wrong flesh tone and loose). On the plus, he really dosent look like Burn out with his cost on and the shot guns in his pockets really look good.
Cobra trooper, meh. He's alright I guess but once you pop that helmet off his head it doesn't want to go back on the same again and the weapons are odd. In fact a lot of this wave has odd weapons. They have pegs or holes on the sides like they should mount on a wall display or something. I have my Cobra's bazooka and "laser gun" attached to each other just because those pegs are there and I like to try to have the figure hold everything he comes with. The figure isn't bad I guess, but I've spent the least amount of time looking at him.
Grand Slam, the only bad thing about him is the yellow grenades and the fact his helmet is hard to get the chin strap closed. I don't think it's meant to be straped on. Besides that I love this figure. Him and Mokey Wrench are the top 2 from this wave.
Med Alert, besides the fact he comes with a few guns I can't say much bad about him. Maybe the location of the mic on his helmet is high, like over his right eye, and there is nothing you can do about it. Figure itself comes together well, he's just not that interesting.
Low Light, the negative is he comes with a small pistol that won't stay in his left hand and the picture on the card shows him holding a knife instead. They used the wave 7 Snake Eyes arms on this one and I have always had a problem with the way that left hand was made. That and the vest he is wearing has a hole in the back because it's from Gung Ho with the lever in the back for "gun pulling action". Besides that this figure really came out well. The colours are good and the mold is good. If the figure had a better lef hand and maybe a removable knife from his left boot then this would be near perfect.
I also said I got my first set of wave 2 figures. I'm not going to review them except to say WOW to Major Bludd, he came out far better than I was hoping. I love this figure. On the other end of the stick Salvo plain old sucks. Figure is boring and he's got an ugly mug. I knew a guy who looked like this meat head when I use to work out at Popeyes gym (once upon a time I spent 2 1/2 hours a day at the gym but that was 8 years ago so the only thing I have left from the time is in my back and some in my chest, maybe I should make a new years resolution about that...) Anyhow, back on topic, Salvo has a usless big gun, stupid helmet and a face that only the mother of the missing link could love.
And Bryce, as for the car, the transmission is fixed but the over drive gear only seems to engage half the time. I think there is a problem with in the electronics side of things. Still working on it but at least I didn't have to replace the whole transmission. Not out of the woods yet, but hopefully not as bad as it could have been.
For those who don't know, the city of Hamilton hates me. 1 1/2 weeks ago I was on the skyway bridge when my transmission started to slip. Didn't even get to pop in to say hi to Mike like I usually do when I do a job there. I think I'm curesd when I go there.
