Oh wow. I like what I see there. You take Mega Marines clutch, add bare arms and different heads, and that looks like a pretty easy to put together team that will look really good in the same color patterns.

I would be really tempted by it if that's what they did, but sadly putting them on card will put them way out of my price range, unless they also sell bagged extras.

I should have brought that Mega Marine Clutch I did with rit dye to the last Joe Canuck. It shows how decent that mold really can be when not bright orange.

I really hope the figures have be able to be taken off the cards without having to cut them out.

Also, I read that at the con people will be able to pick up the second MOTH set. That's a nice extra. I guess I should place an order for the first set while the Canadian dollar is doing so well.

Kinda funny. Brian just sent out the latest update saying he wanted to test the flow of info so that's why they leaked the info to the devils due comic first. As much of a fan of the MC group, that I have to seriously doubt. I have no proof but I'm going to file this under "Oops, MC's timing was off".

Yeah, I smell BS with that particular comment, too...probably just trying to save a little face.  I mean, what's the point of releasing the silouetted card art two days before the comic comes out revealing the entire card art?

Ah, well...doesn't really matter, but it definitely seems like there's some CYA'ing goin on.

For the record, I'm giddy like a school girl over the whole Renegades thing, though...ever since I heard Slaughter was a part of the set, I've been crossing all available appendages for the Renegades to be a part of the set, too.

Sounds like a neat set. With only 1000 being produced, however, it will probably too pricey for me. Maybe if there's a bagged set?

Do you think the Renegades all have Barricades legs, judging by their thighs? I notice Red Dog has a Duke 92 torso and Slaughter with Gung-Ho 92 parts. Hmmm...could be interesting.

Didn't take MC long to put up the pictures on the card.

From MC

Quote
It seems many of you have found our Devil's Due comic Convention ad! Way to go! We wanted to check the flow of info out there and so added a little extra treat to that version of the Convention ad for all the folks that are into the comics! Wow! Word travels fast! Here are full images of the card art. There is a lot of speculation online about the tooing for these 4 figures. NONE of the original tools for these figures were found for ANY original version. All FOUR heads had to be re-tooled from samples of the original figures. Is there more to be previewed? Well, some have speculated there would not be file cards for these guys since they are not on the card package. This is not the case. :-) The file cards are seperate from the package and will be seen here in the near future. After that you will see figure images! These figures will feature a matching camo pattern created just for 2006. We think you will really like them...epsecially when you see the actual figures with your own eyes in New Orleans! Thanks for the great response to these guys. Check back soon for more!

No sh*t word travels fast.   It's not like we use a rope with two tin cans.

And I would place a wager that 3 pack is going to made after the filecard bit.

[rant]Sometimes I really think that Brian thinks us collectors are brain dead morons. Why would they put up blacked out images two days before the comic comes out and then declare they wanted to "test" the flow of info? He must really think people are stupid. Just admit it was a gaffe and move on. I don't see why it's so hard to just admit images came out before they wanted them too. The whole it's a hushhush super secret surprise so we're going to make you guess for weeks is so Junior High. Show and tell people what you're selling so they can decide if they want to buy it. He acts like such a child sometimes (in person as well as online).[/rant]

Anyway, it's nice to see the Renegades coming for sure rather than a trio of over done characters. I'll likely find a way to get these guys and the sarge, I'm still waffling on the con set itself. I really have no affinity for this one.

I think part of Brian's story about "testing the flow of information" was given because in past years we have seen the convention figures from China via Ebay and I believe it was last year that he approached the guys who run Joe related message boards and ask that they not post these images before he released the information on the Master Collector board.

I've followed a few on line debates about the pros and cons of being a member to the Master Collector group and one of the pros for being a member is that in the past members got to see the images of the upcoming convention figures before non-members. This year that doesn't seem to be the case as the images can be accessed via the MC landing page by everyone and now this latest stunt with the comic add.

Whatever the case, I find it hard to believe he would test the flow of information with one of the last few surprises he planned to share on line before the convention via comic. If anything, he should have used one of the figures from the 15 pack rather than one of the bonus sets. It's not logical to use these figures as a test. That and based on how often master collector items are delayed due to whichever reason given for a problem at the factory, I find it highly suspect he could have gotten this add over to Devils Due comics last minute, which would mean he's had this layout for a few months now. Given the delay on this years member figure for example and how it was shown a few weeks before the joining deadline, they are still having problems getting stock on time (Operation MOTH was suppose to be out the first quarter of this year, now should be shipping early June).

In a nut shell, I suspect that the art graphics for all these figures were created a while ago, but due to the figures arriving later than expected from the factories, the preview of all the figures was pushed back and during this time I suspect Brian overlooked he had already submitted an add with Devils Due, showing the art we have seen.

I have no proof of any of this, but this makes more sense than testing the flow of information with the last on line surprise for a very small but dedicated market.

Has anyone ever heard him say oops yet? I'm a fan of the MC group and usually defend them, but I can't recall Brian ever saying "Yeah, that was a bit of a screw up". It's not a big deal to make a mistake, but just because it's a toy doesn't mean you should treat us like kids.

Anyhow, that ends my rant.
