I was told second week of August (so next week) we should start seeing them show up. It may have happened earlier (given the image above)

It's going to be a slaughter-house when they arrive!  If they make it through the nightly employee-pickings, then collectors in my area are going to come out in droves!

I've got 5 illegal Chinese BATs, 1 MOC, and 1 Loose, and another 8 coming in the mail and I swear if I see these on retail shelves I'm STILL buying em!

I'm BAT-crazy!

Found a single case at the Cambridge Wal~Mart this morning.  That store has been dry for a long long time.

Wow. Kitchener/Waterloo is a joe haven. I barely see squat down this way. I think there must be others who check the stores daily.

For example -I was at my local Walmart at noon yesterday. No Joe.

I was back at 10:30am this am. A wave 7 case had been put out at some point, and all that's left is snake eyes and viper.

Consider Markham pretty dried up too.  We do get 1 case of this and 1 case of that but then it's a dry spell for weeks on end!

Asked a Wal*Mart CSR about Joe product yesterday as she was putting out Barbies and she quickly dismissed me with "they sell out as soon as we put them on".  So in my head I'm thinking - "well then, why dont you order more than 1 flipping case and dedicated as much shelf space as frakking Indian Jones, Iron Man, Hulk, and Power Rangers"

A thread over at hisstank kinda put it into perspective for me though, these CSRs probably working minimum wage in a crappy job and really dont care whether product is on the shelf or there's a crate waiting in the back.  I just walked out.

America's big boxes are doing their Fall resets, does Canada do that?  Will we ever get at least two pegs of Joe space?

I can answer that one.

Walmart and TRU currently have "open orders" on Joe. Think about it - managers pay attention to what sells. Joe sells out immediately.. so they want as much as they can get.

That means they will take whatever they can get. They GET 1 case at a time, from distribution. This goes back to the whole distribution and production complaint that has been going on since the line began.

Hasbro Canada ships every single case that they get up from the US (and don't kid yourself, the US will fill their own orders before giving Canada any).  Given the low numbers they are getting, and the number of TRU and bigger yet Walmart stores are out there- they have to ship somewhat fairly and I'd venture a guess that there is never enough product in at one time to ship 1 case to every store even.. so they ship to stores 1,3,5,7,9  with their first allotment, and stores 2,4,6, and 8 with their second.

The demand for Joe product exceeds production. That's the whole story behind this. It is true that Hasbro has bumped up production with every sequential wave, but they still sell out every figure they put out.

So given that stores only GET 1 case at a time, historically for this line - why would they waste peg space on 2 or more pegs, when they don't get the product to fill them?

They'd give joe 4 or 5 pegs, I'm sure - if they could get the product to stock those pegs.

see I understand the economic theory of supply and demand, and on the marketing side of things I have my input - but for production/distribution I'm at a total loss with Hasbro.

They invest so much into toy-lines for movies that are hyped up in the months leading to the release of the movie and then dissipates.  After the hype the shelves are stock full of movie merchadise - e.g. Hulk, Indy, Iron Man, Batman to name recent ones.  The product does not move - I have been staring at those 14" Batmen for months.  Even Transformers are dieing down, and the animated toy line is now clogging the shelf.  Are retailers waiting for the xmas push?

Anways back to Hasbro - they know they have a sure thing in G.I. Joe - heck a movie is coming out next year.  So they've "upped" their production, and I get that they fulfill American stores first - but don't they consider the international market?

I'm dreading this movie toy-line because we'll have shelves and shelves of snake eyes bodies with different heads thanks to the movie and nothing will move yet again.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that the movie line will get here with bigger and better distribution than the current line which is sad.

Man I miss the 80's when Joe was widely available over here.

It really sucks that they went through the effort of removing the 25th Anniversary logo but couldn't be bothered to replace the characters on the back of the card.  It would be nice if they could fit a few more on as well.
