This is the way I see it, the movie will be a huge disappointment for long time Joe fans who are unable to let it go.
- Let it go in terms of hoping the movie will be based on 1980s timeline. The movie will be set 10 years in the future (from what I have read).
- Let it go in terms of G.I.JOE being only A Real American Hero. It's going to be an international force to get a more world wide appeal for the G.I.JOE brand.
- Just let it go that this is not the same G.I.JOE that you grew up with, comic or cartoon universe. Oh the whine I heard from Transformer fans over their movie was mind blowing. The reality is Hollywood always does it's own thing, for better or for worse.
If you can let it go, you may enjoy the movie for what it is. The G.I.JOE brand is being re-launched to be re-introduced to a new audience and hopefully a new generation of kids. Unlike Transformers and Star Wars, there is a huge generational gap between people that enjoyed G.I.JOE in the 1980s to now. Hence, I do not wish for the movie to fail. If it does, you can sure bet Hasbro will reduce or even stop putting more resources, money and time into a toy brand in this economic uncertainty.
