About comic pack #8 : Nemesis Immortal vs Lt.Falcon
« on: May 08, 2011, 12:19:45 AM »

I bought a comic pack #8 today because I'm expecting a Cobra-La story inside + it's Larry Hama who wrote it. But I have to admit that I'm a bit hesitating in opening this pack. For those who read it: Did you like the comic book? What did you like about it? What didn't you like about it? Does it respect the Sunbow movie continuity or not?

I don't really mind if you spoil the story for me, if it can make more interested in reading it. Thanks for your help!

SPOILER below....

Summary:

Quote
In the Himalayas, Lt. Falcon carries a wounded Dusty to their extraction site, concerned that Nemesis Immortal is still around. They catch only glimpses of him before arriving at the Tomahawk. Nemesis Immortal attacks, but Falcon holds him at bay with a bazooka. In the Tomahawk, Doc sees to Dusty. Falcon decides to go back and stop Nemesis Immortal so that the Tomahawk can take off.

Falcon and Nemesis Immortal battle each other in the flaming ruins until Falcon runs off down the mountain. He finds a weapons cache, throwing a white phosphorous grenade and igniting Nemesis Immortal. Nemesis Immortal retreats to a nearby cave. Falcon equips himself with supplies from the cache and follows in pursuit. He leaves his backpack with the radio's homing beacon on at the mouth of the cave and enters.

Inside the two battle some more before Lift Ticket returns in the Tomahawk. Falcon tells Lift Ticket to use the homing device on the radio to home in a pair of missiles. He fires just as Nemesis Immortal appears, causing a huge explosion.

... and also (still from the same page):

Notes of Interest

While the events of 1987's G.I. Joe the Movie did not play in the comic, this issue takes its cue from there.

Thanks M&M for posting this. I knew it was on Yojoe but for some reason did not want to rely on it as it's too much on the surface.

The notes of interest however is kind of what I was looking for.

Now, for those who read it or flipped this book, is this story more of an action story? Does it give some insight on Cobra-La?

Also Hasbro refers to Nemesis Immortal on the back of the package as being "blood sucking"....is this explained anywhere in the comic?

If memory serves, Lt. Falcon comes off tough as nails.

I've heard some people (elsewhere) not like the new hama comics in the packs, but I thought they were great, the "resolute" ones too.

It says on the back of the package "Yes, Larry Hama is back, with all-new stories that give you previously unknown background on favorite characters and never-before-seen details about major stories from the annals of G.I.JOE".

Can't wait to find out what that never told before unknown background for Nemesis Enforcer could be....favorite type of food? Secret wardrobe?

Sucking blood would relate to vampires, which would also help support the "immortal" change from "enforcer". But I've read the comic and didn't pick up on that.

The comic doesn't really go into any backstory on Cobra-La, it's primarily a story on the battle between Falcon & Nemmy.  That being said I found it a fantastic story, but then again I really liked ALL the comics from the comic pack!  & pdaat's right, Falcon comes off as a badass!
