General Joe Talk / Re: Thoughts on Classified and Retro lines?

Funny how we have different point of view.

The Artic HISS is fun, but I will wait for a Blue or Crimson version

Hit & Run is the only one I preordered. His bag is unique and I love is green camo.

Lifeline is like Leatherneck and Dial-Tone for me. I will wait for their retro version on card.

Army building is fun, but our hobby is more and more expensive.  And now a deluxe army builder Royal guard! Not for me. Super7 made him in Reaction+, that's good for me.

Not sure if Crazylegs and Zap will be retro or not?

For now on, I will be more selective on Classified and will get the Retro line over the regular most of the time (of Artwork is not IA)

If you are waiting on the Retro version of figures you could be waiting a long time.   They are only doing 9 Retro figures a year and so far the only character that has been released in Retro first is the Green Shirt.   Otherwise every other character that has had a Retro release had a regular Classified release first.   Some were clearly not classic ARAH looks so a Retro release made sense, while others were only slightly different from the Classified release.

Since they are at number 170(ish) in the regular line, there are dozens upon dozens of character who could be far ahead of recent releases for a Retro release.  Not too mention who may or may not be popular enough to get another release on a Retro card.

I could see Zap getting released on a Retro card first, much like I think all the OG13 should be on Retro cards.   However Crazylegs is probably just going to be a regular release.

A little late but some interesting reveals at NYCC.

Definitely the most interesting was the Arctic Assault HISS.   A nice redeco of the Haslab and it looks like outside of the accessory changes (and driver) there is nothing really different except for the lack of electronics.   It will be interesting to see what the price is because they recently upped the price on pretty much everything on Pulse (including existing stock).

The retail wave is nearly perfect for me.   The highlights are Big Lob, Lifeline and Night Viper.   All characters I am eager to get in Classified.   Hit & Run is also great but he was never a big favourite of mine.   The V2 Mole Rat is a neat idea, but I am not a fan of the colours and really the exploding Dark Energon head is the only real attraction for me.

The name only reveals were nice, but nothing too exciting.   Zap and Crazylegs are good to see.  One for another OG13 character and the other because it finally gets us the right colour scheme for the character (now where is Ripcord).  The female Crimson Guard was cool but I don't know that I'll pick her up except on sale.

Probably my favourite reveal was the deluxe Cobra-La Royal Guard.   I love when Lenny can go off and really give us an updated take on some of the wackier characters in Joe.   This looks fantastic and I'll probably get at least two.

Finally that tease at the end appears to be some kind of collar for a "pet" companion for some upcoming figure.  It will be interesting to see who/what.

They all look good, except for Snake Eyes.   Just like Arctic CC the legs look ridiculous with the attempt to mimic the bottom of the coat.   Pythona and Big Lob look good, but I think Destro is the best of the lot.

Shame about the price increase since the line started out at the $20US (approx.) price.   $25US (over $30Cdn) is an automatic pass.   Can't see this line lasting too long at that price when I think you get a better value from other lines at the 6" scale.

I would like to see Super7 tackle another vehicle if possible.  Preferably something never done before, or something that could use an updated release.   Nothing stupid expensive though like their attempt at the Cobra flying fortress.

Found all but Major Bludd today at a local Walmart.   They had the wave (Monkeywrench, SE v4, BA Cobra Commander) minus Bludd in a special hanger display at the back of one of the aisles near the Legos.

Nice to see some new Classified product on the shelves at Walmart.

Took Monkeywrench and BA:CC.   Both are great figures and top tier Classified in my opinion.

Do you mean the Cobra version of this GI Joe playset?

Yes.  Though technically since the Cobra Modular Fortification came out first, it should be the Joe version of the Cobra playset (haha).

Cobra what now?

Just one of the nicknames that is floating around for the Classified Cobra Modular Fortification.  It kind of looks like a Port-A-Potty in design.

Just got my Cobra Port-A-Potties from Hasbro Pulse.  Have to wait to open them later, but first impression is it looks great from the packaging.   Also I will say for a somewhat small box (relatively) it is surprisingly heavy.

Also nice to see the Snow C.A.T. finally behind us.  Now the wait.  Looks like the end total is 16,437.   So the lowest backed Joe Haslab to date.   Also looks like the Hasbro team is finally getting on board with the snow theme and hinted heavily at more to come including a possible arctic HISS or Stinger.

So the Snow C.A.T. has funded!!!

Right now it is sitting at 15,727 backers but that will fluctuate in the coming day or two.

Anyone here back it?  I did and I am glad it unlocked all the tiers.

Now the wait........

Snow Cat's probably slow moving because from what I saw, the stretch goal figures were pony. Arctic Flint and Jaye? Look, I love the characters, but why not more Arctic Joes like I dunno, Sub Zero or Blizzard or something?

From what I see and read it seems like the prevailing feeling is that the Haslabs shouldn't have "main" characters as tiers because then they are stuck behind an expensive paywall (Haslab).   Why should people have to pay $325US to get those characters?  Instead keep it at alternate looks for existing, or new, characters so that regular retail is where we can still get those regular versions.

As for the Snow C.A.T. I think they were expecting it to do as well as the previous Classified Haslabs and fund in the first week.  Now that it is doing as well as a lot of other crowd funds it is probably scaring them a bit.

So how does everyone feel about the SDCC reveals?

I missed out on the Cold Slither order the first go round so I am hoping tomorrow I can get an order in for the set.

Also did anyone else get the Rattler?  Mine came in just a couple days ago and I finally got around to opening it.   HOO-BOY is it big.   I wish they had made the tail removable because once it is in you can't get it out.   So you can pack it back up in the box and are stuck lugging around this giant ass plane whenever trying to move it, or store it.

Other than that, it is a thing of beauty and the figures are also great.  Pretty boy Wild Weasel and the Gunner (who is the exact same mold) are great, but the Baroness is the stand out here.   She is the best Baroness figure to date in Classified and I saw that she basically has her first appearance outfit on under the web gear.   So I expect we'll see a blue/gold first appearance Baroness down the line.

As for the Snow C.A.T., I am surprised at how slowly it is moving to funding.   I mean it still hasn't funded and we have two weeks left.  It has finally passed 7500 backers so it should fund, but it has been painful watching it crawl to the finish line.   I'm not too worried about it actually funding, but the tiers are getting me a little worried.

He doesn't look undead to me...

In fact, I'm planning pledging for 4:
1. Corpse (with Cerberus white skin head & hands)
2. Sgt Graves
3. Cerberus (dark skin: head & hands)
4. Capt. Winchester

So, no undead there... just 4 cool vintage military

Well the line is pretty much promoted as an undead/horror vs. military in WW2.   So while there are regular soldiers, there are also a lot of undead/horror characters as well.

The line looks good, and it is always nice to see more O-ring love get funded, but I'm with B that this isn't really my cup of tea.  The "regular" military figures look good, but I'm not collecting much O-ring anymore and none of it is WW2 focused.

HasLab Revealed - Snow C.A.T. with Frostbite

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nDJ2N-7Q_XU

Damn it.  I think I am going to order one.  This thing is awesome.

Yes it is.

The only thing is the size.   Man is it a BEAST!!!  That thing is so much bigger than I expected it to be, especially next to the HISS.   I'm not sure how that will display.   However that is a future me problem because I am all in.

Also love that Bivouac as a tier.  So much better than patches and I'm sure we'll see it again down the road in the traditional green.
